What is your miles/kWh (total average electricity consumption) on the "Drive Monitor 2"

    The numbers does not make sense. No electric car have better range on highway driving compared with city driving. Even if has good aerodynamic properties, it will have higher energy consumption when the speed increases.

    All true, but the number in miles/kWh displayed in the Drive Monitor 2 is just an average of all EV drives you have done on PRIME. It makes perfect sense to compare this number to find out how efficiently one drives over all. If you do most of EV driving on highway, yes, your number will be quite bit lower than one who drives only in city.

    Very nice. What was your record high on GOM last summer? I had mine up to 39.2miles on Tuesday, then my wife took the car for her out of town appointment. The next day, the GOM was down to 37.2 miles. I worked my way up, it is now back to 38.9 miles. I want to see 40 miles on my GOME before the end of the summer.

    I actually reached 70.1 kms towards end of August... which is roughly equivalent to a range of 43.5 Miles. At this pace, I will likely meet that number in a week or two.

    Side Note: For the time being, neither my wife or my daughter can drive the Prime.:sneaky: They have other options sitting right there in the garage.:sneaky: The boss says so.

    Lucky you! During two years I owned PRIME, we were one car family for 16 months. Now, my wife has her Pathfinder Hybrid to drive, I get to drive PRIME mostly, except when she has to go out of town. PRIME getting over 65mpg vs Pathfinder 28mpg at best, whoever drives further that day takes PRIME. And my wife took our PRIME today again. :cry::cry::cry:

    Exactly!
    What these guys are doing is racing to the bottom.
    To win all you have to do is drive as slow as possible.
    You are pinching the electrons so tight that you don't let other people, that drive normal, use the family EV???

    You do know that EV driving is the cheapest, cleanest way to go, correct?
    And you are chasing a number that shows how slow you can drive, correct? (I'm glad I'm not following you in your commuting...:unsure:)

    So the wife and daughter fire up a gasser to go get ice cream? o_O

    While it is generally true that slower speed is more efficient (use less energy to propel the car for the same distance), that is not all that matters. My average speed has not changed much during winter and summer, yet my summer efficiency is vastly better than my winter numbers. Furthermore, my wife drives our PRIME about the same or even slower average speed than I do on the same route, but I can almost always get better miles/kWh number than she does. From my record, I also have some summer month which had slower average speed yet lower miles/kWh than other summer month with higher average speed.

    That's awesome you have 2 BEV's and a PHEV in the household!!
    You can pinch the electrons with your Prime while the ladies get to punch the BEV's and enjoy the silent performance without you !!(y)

    Seems like 12.5 kwh / 100 kms is very reasonable to expect, depending upon AC Load and how you drive.

    I'm looking forward to getting our 2020 Prime!

    Here are two quick examples from Hybrid Assistant. Outbound trip from home, HVAC on to cool car, 60% of trip on Interstate at 110 km/hr. About 16 kwH/100 KM at that speed.

    Return trip, surface streets at lower speed. Settled out at 10 kWH/100 KM.

    Yup! I getting about 12.2 - 12.4kWh / 100km on a routine basis. Far better than the 15.8 that EnerCan testing rates it for.

    I’m at 13.2kWh/100km on Drive Monitor 2. But I did pick it up in Jan and Feb was really cold (started at 15!)

    11-13 is what you’ll see in the summer (I’m seeing 10.5-11.5). 15+ in the winter depending on heater use.

    Edit: Just dropped to 13.1 today!

    Despite the hit we all take in winter, I will admit that for myself, there's an element of fun to be had in undoing the seasonal "damage". :D

    My worst monthly average this year in February at 18.4kwh/100km (3.4 miles/kwh). This is still far, FAR better than what I get out of any other EV for my daily driving. I regularly use L2 cabin conditioning when plugged in and also a 200w supplemental cabin heater that does not trip the block heater plug at public parking spots. In my area, all public parking lots have 110v plugs for every stall. ;)

    Anyhow, for the summer... my monthly so-far best average is 9.2 kwh/100km (6.8 miles/kwh). Again, far better than what I can get with any EV over the same commute regimen.

    So, there's a case to be made for the Prime that is conveniently ignored by the most evangelical of BEV fans. Given my particular use case and range requirements (urban and suburban), the Prime is so far the very best "EV" only capable car I can purchase in the Canadian market. So I often get asked by the locals at gatherings: What makes the Prime a better commuter (daily driver) than say, the Model S?

    My answer?
    The Prime is a dependable daily driver I can actually own, while the other is a pleasure car that you MUST only lease.

    Same. The more I drive the Prime, the more I realise I only need to refuel when I go on road trips. Within town, even if I use fuel, it'll take a long time to empty the tank.
