Nice alternative. This doesn't give me any more sense of security than the luggage lock on the handle. Seems like someone can jimmy or cut the lock or cable just as well at the handle as at the wheel. I'll stick with my luggage lock for convenience of not bending over which is a big deal in the rain and preventing people from stopping charge by removing the handle.

Using this loop through rim locking method, has anyone found a really short cable to loop through the rim? Like a foot long or so?

I like it. I would make a wooden(or steel) contraption that is basically a little speed bump with a slot running across it to protect the cable. Two one by fours screwed to a piece of plywood would work. Once the car is over the thing, the cord is locked down by the car. The weight of the car isn't on the cord, just on the wood.
