    Hi there-
I have a 2012 Toyota Prius C three with 56K miles. Recently the LCD display (audio, navigation, etc) has occasionally started turning solid blue when the car is in reverse when it should be accessing the rear camera display. Everything else on the display works completely fine. I took it to Toyota who recommended the entire LCD unit be replaced ($1250+). Has anyone else experienced this issue or have suggestions to resolve it? It doesn’t feel like the unit is the issue given the sporadic nature of the problem and the otherwise complete functionality of all the other features of the LCD display.

It’s much more likely that the camera itself is on the way out and the blue field you see is what the display normally shows when there is no video signal on the line.

Rear vision cameras just don’t last very long with all the weather exposure.

Leadfoot nailed it. If you did what the dealer asked, they would have replaced the head unit, and then the rear view camera as well "because it has to sync together at the same time" or some other cockamaymee story.

It didn’t make sense. It was clearly an issue with the camera or the connection to it, and replacing the entire LCD display didn’t seem appropriate. The rear camera has been lousy for a while now, so it makes sense that the blue screen is a sign that it’s finally done.

Meanwhile I never got around to adding a camera to my wife’s Pc4 (which she doesn’t care about anyway), and her head unit has basically had a stroke. The entire Bluetooth module is dead now, half the on screen buttons turn orange when you push them, but don’t do anything, and the source/apps buttons don’t work at all.

Now in the process of getting ready to install an aftermarket unit because while it’s nice to see the mileage/power flow on the stereo, it isn’t worth that much more than a cheaper unit.
