Headlights on during day with "auto" mode?

    You can check the Owner's Manual for differences between US and Canadian units:
    2004 Toyota Matrix Owners Manual and Warranty - Toyota Owners
    I'm not seeing a way to turn off the DRLs in US models, but there is some other ambiguous wording making it unclear.

    DRLs are on pages 78-79. If that doesn't produce a definitive answer, you can search for 'Canada' and find some other differences in the vehicle's labeling and indicators.

    Yeah, I had checked the manual before posting. With the car long gone from my possession, it is a minor concern. The more interesting question on this topic is why didn't the gen2 have DRLs? It was sold in Canada, and had the same uncomfortable seats as the Matrix.

    Are you sure you aren't confusing the DRL and the fog lights? Separate switch for the fog lights.

    If that is directed at me, my issue was resolved.look at post 7 in this thread and the linked post there. Shows a picture of both the accent lights and the fog lights.
