I think I used Carista to turn it off in the Rav4.

Just back from a 3500 mile road trip. Overall MPG since I got the Rav4 is still about 40 but was quite a bit lower for some stretches of 80 mph interstates against stiff wind, as low as 28 mpg for a 2 hour gradual up hill stretch in Wyoming. I expect that to be a record low. Our old Nissan Murano would have been at 15 or below in those conditions. The Rav is still a pleasure to drive.

I find the kick motion for the hatch works consistently for me while my wife had to work at it to find the sweet spot. Main thing is straight out and then straight back, no wiggling. I don't expect random openings but we'll see.

Filling the tank was pretty consistent with the automatic shutoff about 2 gallons below what I can get by dribbling in more which I do sometimes while other times I don't bother. I'm not about to invoke the lemon law over this as one guy has done in Oregon. ;)

And yes, the clock did revert to 24 hours about a week after the dealer thought they had fixed it.

I'm about 1,000 miles in my Rav4h Limited with adaptive headlights. The one with the + rating for safety just today. I'm enjoying the car and its power too much to get 40 MPG but close.

I got the kick down now and the hatch works consistently. A rav4world hint taught me the kick.

I have no problems with fill-ups. 4 at three stations and the needle is slightly above the F mark every time. Canada built and June 20 seems to be the key as recent Canada builds are seemingly the ones that aren't having troubles. Can't believe how some are making such a fuss. The car will go further than my bladder..or hers.

Love all the nannies. My wife is not a fan of the comfort of the passenger seat. I wish it was equipped with the 14 way like the drivers side is. She has a bad back and hasn't tried it with her cushion. My clock is 12 hour though if it were 24 hour this ex-Navy guy wouldn't worry..

It is not just for use when you drive a long way in one stretch.

I have boasted to my friend that over the life of their vehicle they will stand at gas pumps 60 to 100 times more than I will with my Prius, some of those in snow, below zero temps etc. I want to do the same boasting with my Rav4. Boasting to friends is why we buy these things, isn't it? :sneaky:

Seriously, It isn't a huge deal but it does bug me some.

At least I'm not going ballistic over the back up noise.

One benefit of not wearing my hearing aids is I don't hear the backup noise.

I hear a slight whine as I come to a stop or start backing up but nothing beyond that. Is that what you are talking about? What sort of sound should I be hearing? Could mine be not working or turned off?

I assume they meant the Prius’ reverse beep is not present in the R4h.

Putting off buying one till next spring... 2020 has a nice ring to it ;)

Son and I will pick up a blizzard pearl XSE w/ weather package in the NW and drive to the Grand Canyon for adventure there and then drive back through Canada and swing by to see TP. :)

Try backing up with your window down. The pedestrian warning sound is purposely loud and irritating when you are in reverse and the ICE is not running. It is not especially noticeable with the windows up and is different from the whine that you are talking about.

And, yes the Prius reverse beep is not present.

I'm assuming you will be choosing the moon-roof version as opposed to the adaptive headlights version. Unknown if the 2020 model will allow both. Given your location, all weather mats might be considered. They are available online so you can get them later or even in advance for less than MSRP.

Woot! A Blueprint XSE w/ Tech Package was one my final list... it was right up there with the Prime.

Oddly enough, no RAV4 Hybrid versions in Canada come with the panoramic roof because 100% of our RAV4 Hybrids are sourced from Canada and apparently TMMC doesn't have the capability to install the panoramic roofs. (And I don't know why we can't source it from the US but c'est la vie)

Yes but Canada makes the adaptive headlights version that give the Rav4h a plus safety rating so all is not bad. Very happy with my Canada build. Not a single issue that would have me visiting the dealer at 1k miles.

TMMC is an award winning plant and was the first plant outside of Japan to manufacture Lexus models (RX). TMMK is another award winning plant and is the second plant to receive go-ahead to build Lexus models (ES) so anything out of Kentucky will also be trouble-free.

Not sure... all I want is the weather package (heated steering wheel, defrost wipers). Don't want any moon roof as that just makes things more cold in the winter. :( Yes on the all weather mats and will get if I have to order.

I read somewhere any model with the panoramic are still produced in Japan...? The one I test drove last month was from Japan an LE.
Ha, after I found out there were made in Canada I wasn't happy. Nothing personal. Wasn't that happy with our Corolla's build quality.
So what parts do you hail anyway TP. Thought it was BC?

Oh was it Japan? Sorry I thought it was US. Well either way, we may have to wait til we source our hybrids from Japan or TMMC finds a way to manufacture them.

Oh? That’s too bad. That’s weird. Again, it’s a good plant.

    BC originally.

    Currently:

    Moonroof - Japan only

    Adaptive headlights - Canada only

Kentucky plant up and running in the fall.

Which doesn't say all regions currently get all versions from both factories.

At 1,200 miles on my most complex Canada build possible (limited with all packages), I have no reason to see a dealer.

Now at 3k+ miles and still no issues. Not a single rattle or squeak. Average now up to 42 MPG+ which is more than I expected since I had only matched EPA MPG in my v.

Has it been slippery enough to try out that fancy 4 wheel drive?

Probably 1000 miles of heavy rain and puddles in the grooves of the road but no ice or snow reports yet. AWD, not 4WD.

I might be tempted back to a rav4 with these kind of fuel economy numbers. My dad bought a new V6 model in 2012, that was a terrible riding car as the rear suspension and body boomed over bumps and potholes, it sounded like someone smacking the side of a washing machine and was so unrefined he ended up getting rid of it a year later.

How is the cabin noise at freeway speeds? Is there a great deal of wind noise?
