Well this thread didn’t age well, did it:rolleyes:
In the 2nd quarter the GMC was the 100th best seller in the USA. It sold about 11,000, or 3,667/month.

This comes from the data at US Vehicle Sales Figures By Model | GCBC

The Prius Family came in at 17,183, or a bit shy of 6000/month. According to InsideEVs.com, the Prime accounted for about a quarter of that.

The Model 3 came in at about 44500, or just shy of 15000/month.

I expect to see the market share of plugin vehicles to surpass 50% of new vehicle sales by 2029.

Would you have bought the Prime if it had half the EV range? Cause that is what we likely would have gotten if Toyota USA hadn't spoken up. Toyota central may not understand the American market, but they listen to their branch offices. Most of the time.
So Priuschat is a forum of yo talking to yourself.

Maybe. I bought what was on the market and didn't pay much attention to what might have been.

The Prime makes up a very small portion of the market in the US, so if Toyota got that wrong it wouldn't have affected their bottom line. Some people think the range is too low now and bought Volts or Claritys. You can't please everyone.

It is a vary small portion of the US market, but US sales of the Prime make up about half of the model's global sales.

Still a drop in the bucket of their 10.6 million annual global sales.

But how well it does will be a factor in Toyota's future alternative fueled cars.
Or maybe not. They are still doing hydrogen.

I'm sure Toyota will figure it out. I don't worry too much about what is on the market when I'm not buying cars.

I think the most amazing thing about the old part of this thread is that Danny actually responded to someone's post.
