I'm about to replace my current daily driver (BMW 750Li) with the P, will I survive the transformation to this little bugger from my current behemoth ?
All I need is BT and NAV, what package is it then ?

    P.S
Will I still be able to get laid by the Prius ? Do the chicks in LA dig it ? :p

As for the PS you will have to beat them off with a stick.
If you hurry I have an antiserum but it must be given within 48 hours to be effective. After that you are lost. After the BMW you need the full meal deal. Trust me. Go for it. We have a 12 step program that will help you deny that you have a problem and help us pull more people into the cult. Could I interest you into a CAN-View?

The first chick that took in a ride in my new Prius, after I got it, said it was the coolest car she had ever riden in....

... but... uh.... she was my sister in law. :p

But hey. I think she was serious. And she drives a Saab 9-3 convertible.

    Edited to add...

If you want to get laid, buy I boat. Worked for me.

Of course, I am now married with children... and a sister in law that thinks I drive a cool car. :D

Why, I swear just considering buying a Prius has made you look much more attractive, you handsome devil.

(You have to buy the BT plate separately from Bill.)

I think that a guy driving a Prius is way sexier than a guy in a Hummer!! He definitely has better taste!

Hmm.. not sure about that, I like them Blondie..

How many miles should I expect on average from a gas tank driving IN the city ? Just curious.
When cruising approx 75mph on the highway using cruise, is it only the battery propelling the P or the gas supports it too ? (1-2 passengers and no laguage)
What about those packages ? Navi and BT are 5 and up ? or BT comes separate or what?
I know I ask too many questions, unfortunately the sales guys in the dealer could not even tell me what the B in the panel stands for.

    I owe you guys... :)

It depends on how you drive it and what the traffic patterns are. My wife drive my Prius in the city like her Miata, and she gets around 45 MPG. I can always get over 60 MPG during my 20 mile commute, but a one mile trip will give you somewhere in the 30's. At 75 with Cruise and AC on we get around 50. The packages have changed for 07, there is a full description on a thread here. Hope you enjoy your new Prius half as much as I enjoy mine.

Your mileage depends on too many factors to predict: ambient temperature, length of trips; daily mileage, etc. Lower mileage the first 5 minutes while the exhaust system warms up. Then higher. Higher yet if the battery is warmed up but not too hot. Lower if the cabin heat is on (winter). Also slightly lower if the A/C is on, though cabin heat is a bigger mileage-killer than A/C. Also terrain makes a difference. Long trips get better mileage than short ones.

The battery cannot propel the Prius on level roads for more than a mile or so, and in normal driving will propell it much less. The Prius gets all its energy from gasoline. It is designed to combine the gas and electric systems in such a manner than they are both working most of the time. Above 42 mph the gas engine will always be turning, and usually will be providing most of the power. Below that speed, it will sometimes shut off for brief periods. The EV mod will allow you to shut it off, but only below 34 mph and only if all the conditions are correct (system temperature, state of charge of the battery, demand for power, battery temperature, etc.)

At 75 mph the battery alone can drive the Prius only under extremely unusual conditions, and then only for very brief times. I've seen it after a very long descent out of the mountains left my battery at a very high SOC. The engine still turns, but without pushing the car. Once the SOC drops a bit, the engine resumes driving the car.

The Prius is not an electric car. It is a hybrid, which achieves good mileage by using its two systems in a highly integrated way, and it is rarely advantageous to try to make it use one or the other alone.

I had some friends over for dinner last week. We drove to see a movie after that and took my car (naturally). There were 5 of us (aside: 5 adults fit quite comfortably inside), and one of them was a blonde woman. I swear that the car was making her overly "excited", if you know what I mean... she had never been in a Prius before, and knew little about it, but I've never seen a woman react to a car like that before.

So yes, you will be inundated by gorgeous women who want nothing more than to find out how far back those seats recline.

Ditto that! Every time I see a guy driving a Hummer, I can't help but wonder what exactly it is he's trying to compensate for by driving that hulking hunk of metal. Guys in Priuses are much sexier and smarter to boot. You know he's not trying to make up for any shortcomings.

To be frank, I don't own a Hummer but I do own several high end sports cars.
Your assumption about the compensation theory is correct, at least in my case, I do try to compensate for certain mental issues (not sex related).
When I drive my Lamborghini Murcielago down Sunset Blvd I wonder how many people who stare at me actually realize that I have a bigger problem then they can imagine.
Lately it became very depressing for me to be seen in the Lambo or in one of my other Porsches and BMW, I feel like an attention whore.. B)
That's how the humble Prius came to mind, in so many ways it's the opposite, I guess I'm looking for some balance in my life, please don't laugh at me if you see me cruising in the Lambo occasionally, I really have issues.. :(

That's right ... once you have a Prius you'll no longer be an attention whore. You'll be a SMUG attention whore. :D

Are you going to get a license plate frame for the Prius which reads, "my other car is a Porsche," or one for the Porsche which reads, "my other car is a Prius?"

What's funny, it seems to me that people look at drivers in high end sports cars with a wide variety of emotions (and not always with lust or envy)...in my opinion, it would be SO frustrating, not ever really knowing what they're thinking!

Anyone consider that this whole thread might just be a troll?

Nonetheless, what everyone says is true : The Prius is a great car! But's it's no Porsche.

You see what I have to deal with every day ? :( People question me thinking I'm a fake or a troll or have a small ding dong. :(
Who needs it? I hope my sanity will not be questioned as much when I start driving to work in a Prius because if it will I might lose faith in people permanently....OR NOT, it might become the perfect understatement experience I've been lusting for so long..
Don't worry, I am not a troll and I mean every word I type.. :)
