I sure see a large parade of Prii on the 395 every morning! Where are all you Prius owners in the DC Northern VA area? Are you out there?

I'm in DC but you'll rarely see me on 395 :)

What time do you hit the road, and where?

My wife and I commute from Dale City to Capitol Hill, getting on I-95 HOV at the Horner Road Commuter lot just before 6:00, so I can get to work by 6:30. In the evening, we leave from Crystal City (my wife works there, and parks the Prius there) and enter HOV at the Pentagon around 3:45 or so.

There are a lot of us NOVA/DC/MD Prius drivers, but they're so common around here we don't feel very special. I see a lot of people on the boards, but this forum doesn't get much traffic and the get-togethers we've tried to plan in the past have fallen through. I'd still be up for them.

And I'm an ex-NoVA person, but would certainly be up for any get togethers.

I live in Richmond now, and see Prii around here all the time...never any posts, though!! sniff...

I'm one of them, I get on 395 at King Street and then get off at Glebe to go to Crystal City.

My little super white baby gets terrific mileage on that downhill stretch. I got it in November 2005 and have a little over 4200 miles on it. Alas, going the other way in the evenings I get about 37 mpg.

I love the light August traffic. Soon it will be September and school will be in and everyone will be back from vacation and the traffic will get heavy again.

I'm seeing more Prii all the time and also the other hybrids, the hondas. Someone that works in the same building I do told me they just bought the Civic hybrid.

Not if you got that car after July 1st. The time limit to get new Clean Special Fuel
plates that you can HOV on 95/395 expired then.

Ours is supposed to be delivered on August 26 (just a week and a couple of days away!) We don't commute on 95/395, but as long as we make the purchase before the end of September, we can take advantage of the HOV deal on 66. I commute to work on the non HOV portion in the morning, but I know the new tag will come in handy once in a while.

Ever since we place the order for the prius at the end of June I've noticed how many there are on the roads around here now. I don't see too many black ones though. It seems like all of the other colors are more popular for some reason. I wonder if that is just in the NOVA area or everywhere.

EDIT: Oops. The tax credit is available as long as I purchase before the end of September, not the HOV privelege on 66, which is good through next June.

I think i have driven on 66 about 3 times so I wouldnt get a use for the new plates, I wish i had the white ones though for the hovs on 95/395, but its all good just driving the car is an enough reward for me.

I didn't think I would use the HOV tags that much...and then I went out 66W during HOV. I can get so many places that were just "I can't get there in rush hour it will take me too long"!! I don't use it that much on 395 b/c I avoid the 14th St bridge traffic as much as I possibly can.

But there are definitely a ton of people driving the Prius in Northern VA. My office parking lot is speckled with them, including my car's twin, bought the day before mine off the same lot...which weirded me out the first time I saw it, not where I parked. I was about to kick some coworker tail...and then realized it was another one.

Baltimore to Falls Church and back. There are few things that would make me do this on a regular basis... God, country, family ... and my Prius.

Welcome to PC. There are a few of us around town. Maybe one day one of us will be crazy enough to organize a Richmond Prius Meet. :D
