My local police department recommends that one never leave garage remotes visible in the car when you are not in it. Smash-and-grabbers know that that is the key to your garage, after they check your address on your registration. I am talking about a situation of an attached garage, where the burglar wants to get into your garage and close the door, and then work on the interior door at their leisure. That is one of the advantages of homelink.

XLE was previously Premium, which didn't have autodimming/homelink mirror either.

    Easy retrofit, btw.

Yeah, looking through the 2010, 2016 and 2019 Canadian brochures: 2010 had "integrated garage door opener", on every level but base. For 2016 and 2019, it's only in "technology advanced package",

I personally don’t know about what’s in the 2020 in particular. However, I’ll mention this: Although I’m glad our 2017 “Advanced,” highest trim level, does have it (looks to be the exact same part as in our 2009), we’re probably going to upgrade our garage-door opener to one with a rotating-code system, since that’s a lot more secure. Presumably, that will require us to use their particular door opener.

Is HomeLink useful for anything other than opening a garage door? Our recently purchased Pathfinder Hybrid (used) came with HomeLink, but since we do not have functioning garage, I never bothered to set it up. It is the first car ever to have this option for me.

Supposedly it’s suppose to work with X10 based remote RF receivers. That way you can control lights and appliances that are plugged into the X10 controllers. Haven’t really kept up on it since Radio Shack went out of business.

Keep in mind Prime's mirror has longer 'stem', otherwise it won't fit properly, or you'll have to remove/cut the sensors cover. .

All models come with Amazon Alexa I believe. If you had a smart garage door or bought one of the easy to convert ones, you could use Toyota+Alexa to open it. It's a huge go around, and not convenient at all, I only offer it as an option. I have homelink and I'm thinking about doing it anyways.

To use the Homelink on a rotating code device (a) follow the instructions in the car's owner's manual, (b) go on the web site from the opener maker for different instructions. One or the other will work.
