Any one else getting more than 30 per charge?

    In your area, cold winter is probably not much lower than 30F, I bet. In our region, winter high temp usually never reaches 30F. Last two winters, I have been seeing low 20 miles on GOM but in reality, I was bearly getting 18 miles of EV range in winter. During summer when our temp usually stays relatively cool 70-80F top, I can drive without AC. Without AC, my GOM shows ~35 miles without much effort. I have been trying to hyper EV mile this summer, and highest I got was 39.2miles. After start using some AC in July, the GOM without AC has dropped to ~37miles. With AC ~34 miles. I wanted to see 40 miles on GOM before winter, but I may not get to see it.

    The actual EV range is close to GOM but usually 1-2 miles lower. Even without using any AC for some periods, the GOM range is affected by changing the temperature, but the actual use of AC will sometimes reduce the EV range dramatically. The graph is data points from past data from non-winter days, plotting actual EV range achieved from a full charge (not GOM miles) vs AC load ratio for that day.

    Last 2 months, off work, mostly city driving (40-50mph), was never getting more than 25. Last week or so, mostly freeway commuting to work (70mph+), now seeing numbers 30+. Driving on EV though, I notice the instant gas mileage is best when going 30mph or less. Makes no sense.

    Interesting you're seeing 30+ mpg traveling at over 70mph. What do you mean by instant gas mileage?

    My electric only range is now over 30 miles, indicated at least, now that I've started driving more at steady 70mph. Which is counterintuitive since, at least in electric mode, the slower the better.

    There's a way to setup an instant mpg or mile/kwh gauge on the multifunction display. It doesn't give you a precise number, but it's like a bargraph that tells you what you're getting now. That's how I know in EV only mode, you get better miles/kwh when you're going like 15mph.

    Are you switching to HV on the highway? If you are saving EV for surface roads and switching to HV on the highway, that will affect the calculation on the GOM.

    Sounds like the case. Not sure how you're doing 70+ mph on the freeway for most of your commute and still getting >30 miles of EV range. As we all know, high speeds kills your EV range.

    Maybe a long down hill? I have not yet tested EV range of my PRIME on highway speed. What is a typical EV range with 70+ mph? At higher speed EV will switch to HV automatically doesn't it?

    In summer temps and all other conditions being favorable, I can get up to 28 miles on EV only with about half of my round trip commute of 27 miles at 70 mph; the balance being between 30 and 55 mph. This is not reliable, however, and I prefer to do the entire commute in EV, so I usually take the back roads at speeds between 30 and 55 mph for at least one way. Under normal driving conditions, EV doesn't automatically switch to HV until 84 mph.

    I have yet to do extensive testing but I believe you'd be hard pressed to see 30+ in EV range at 70+mph unless a good portion of it is downhill. At 60-70mph even at a slight to moderate incline, EV miles go very quickly.

    To test EV range at +70mph, I would have to drive to interstate hours away from my home. I usually try to save my EV range for my destination when I drive to out of state, but I will try checking how far I can go on EV at 70 mph next time. I don't think I have ever driven at or above 70mph EV.

    So I start my commute in EV, 3 miles city, then 70+mph highway, then city throught the day. I've been experimenting between changing to HV on highway, or leaving it in EV till it gets down to 60 and then using charge mode, since the ICE is on already. I think using charge mode than using EV cycles is kind of like pulse and glide - you get the ICE in it's efficient range and build up a bunch of electricity, then use electricity for a while without using ICE. With HV mode, I get a pretty steady 55mpg (65mpg after including the EV range). Using EV/Charge cycles it's been more like 70-75mpg combined. I do 90-100 miles a day.

    If the car gets 30 EV miles at 55 mph, I'll guess the car gets closer to 15 EV miles at 70 mph.
    and I'll also guess that at 35 mph that EV range should break into the low to mid 40 mile area.
    If you can drive 25 mph without getting in anyone else's way
    I'll guess you'll approach the 50 miles EV range around 2 hours after starting... That is if those 40+ miles are
    flat, the pavement is smooth, you run 5 extra lbs air in the tires, no head wind to speak of ( even at 25 mph) etc etc etc.

    This describes my 6.1 rt commute. The highest I've been able to get is 42.3 miles on 1 charge with the GOM starting at 38.9 (highest it's been).

    I just did a trip today on the interstate running anywhere from 70 mph and 80 mph. level freeway, 85 degrees temp, 3 people in the car and ac on. Arrived at my 25 mile destination all on EV and still had 5 miles showing on the GOM. Loving my 2017 Prime.

    "Level freeway" makes a big difference - that is not part of my world.

    +1. Flat anything doesn't really exist in Atlanta. We're about 1000' above sea level and there's a fair amount of elevation change throughout the city. There's no way I could make it 30+ EV miles at 70+ mph with the A/C on.

    I'm getting 25 miles average on a charge during our hellpocalypse 100 degree days the last week or so. Yesterday, I raised the A/C temperature to 77 degrees and like magic EV mileage went up to 29 miles! The A/C fan really puts a load on the traction batteries. I'm not sure there are additional factors: compressor and components that add load.

    I've had mid 30's actual driven range twice in the last week. 32 miles one day and had 9 miles remaining (which would have turned into about 5 in the real world) and then did 33 yesterday. The estimated range is now up at 40 miles. I love Summer.

    If your happy with the results you're getting that is all that really matters (in most cases, anyways).
