I just got a 2014 Prius, which is my first time owning a Prius, and it has about 58k miles on it. I am hearing a noise coming from the back of the vehicle, which I am not sure if it is normal or something that I should have looked at. Was going to have it checked out at the 60k maintenance, but I am going out of state, so I want to see if I should take it in before I leave. I am only the second owner, and records show the previous owner was always taking it in for the normal maintenance.

The noise sounds like a whining sound, which gets higher and lower as the car moves. This only happens when going forward and only happens the first time driving for the day when it is cold. If I wait till later in the day to drive when it has warmed up, I will not hear it. It also only lasts about 10-15 seconds, and once it stops I will not hear it again for the rest of the day.

Does it sound like it's coming from inside or outside the car?
Maybe a fuel pump or HV Battery fan???

Sounds like it is coming from the outside of the vehicle.

While I was driving, my wife sat in the back of the car and recorded a video with the phone in the very back. You can hear the reverse beeping and then the sound will be shortly after that.

You need to have someone in the back seat to listen to pinpoint it.
    There is not enough information.

    congrats and welcome!
does it happen with both engine on and off? i can't think of any normal whining sounds from the rear when the car is cold.
if it gets higher and lower with speed, i would think the rear axle/bearings/brakes

I have not paid attention if the engine was on or not when I hear it. I will pay attention for a while to see if it only happens during the time it's off, on or if it does it during both times.

The speed in which it switches between higher and lower does get faster as I pick up speed
