It's all about the warranty, the accessibility for warranty fulfillment and the availability for immediate replacement.

I went to several stores that open early on Saturday morning, yesterday, August 11. At the fourth store, after stopping and returning, the door dii not respond to the key. Like Bisco, I decided that my 7-1/2 year old battery had "given up the ghost."

I plugged in the lithium ion jump box to my permanently installed pigtail, started the car and drove home.

    I immediate went on this web site;

Duracell Ultra Platinum AGM Battery for 2012 Toyota Prius L4 1.8L 325CCA Hybrid Car and Truck - SLI51PAGM at Batteries Plus Bulbs

and ordered the battery. I went to pick it up a mile from my house in my husband's car. The clerk had it ready for me and stated that they always have one in stock.

In 20 minutes, I removed the old battery and installed it. I was again up and running,

Today, I drove 30 miles around town, making multiple stops. The battery worked perfectly.

Knowing that I could do this again with a full 4 year (not prorated} warranty means to me real peace of mind.

Today, I searched Amazon.com and found this DELCO battery at a good price.

Reading these negative comments of those who had bad experiences with warrant service, I am assured that I made the right decision.

congrats! i considered the duracell, but no dealers close by.
4 year warranty is good. tru start has 2 years, then pro rated for 5 more years. it partly depends on your climate, but unless the battery is defective, most of these warranties won't matter. if someone had a ten year full replacement warranty... ...they'd probably go out of business

Many (most?) of the lead-acid batteries, no matter what name they have on them, are made by Johnson Controls.

We have a Batteries Plus in our area, but I don't think I've ever bought anything there, because of the outrageous prices.

Not really. Yesterday, I got the 10% online order discount. Today, it's 15%. I also got the $10 rebate coming. So, my total cost with tax is a couple of dollars over $200. If I got it today, it would have been about $190. That's much better than the dealer.

And, if I wanted, they would have installed it for FREE. $30 with no hassle is worth it to me. I got it within an hour. And, I can get a completely new one the same way within an hour for the next four years, should it fail.

In my region, Batteries Plus are everywhere. Should another vendor's battery fail and there are no dealers, you'd have to buy another battery for full price at the mercy of what's locally available.

The "pro rated" warranty to me is a scam to get you to return to the original vendor. The same is given for tires. Almost worthless, unless you buy the enhanced warranty. Those are also an up front money maker, since many customers don't use them.

That’s a good find/price, for a good warranty. Thanks for sharing.

I’ll have to wait and see if my LiFePO4 bet pays off....

Likewise, my $65 vented AGM U1. It has been only 53 months so far.

That's a great price for proven AGM technology. I tried to look up how you dealt with the terminal posts being different but I'm afraid I couldn't find it...

It says it's SAE-JIS. Perhaps it is JIS with shims to connect to SAE or something.

I got the 35AH duracell ultra with the (wrong) J posts and 1-year warranty at batteries plus for less than half this price. I'm still figuring out a nice connection adapter; meanwhile it powers the car just fine. So there is that barebones option if you like this vendor.

No adapters needed. The Prius clamps will clamp securely on those rectangular terminals, although it may look awkward.
To hold the U1 in place, I used spacers at the rear and on top. Venting modified to direct any gases through the stock vent hose.

The U1 I saw has square lug holes (I looked up your mentioned J post and that's what it has). I guess cr94 was able to just fit the connectors around them.

Which model did you get specifically please? Might be a nice option for someone...

That's how mine is--clamps bent slightly larger to accommodate the width of the rectangle. It seems pretty secure, though not much contact area, if it matters, and a pain to disconnect.

Item number SLADC12-35J, I think. Not vented.

? My original cable clamps are squeezed slightly smaller to fit the rectangular terminals. Retightened it a couple of times to make sure it is secure. U1 battery was not designed to connect to the vent tube but was easy to modify so that it does.

Does this Duracell battery have a vent for fumes?

My only issue with Batteries Plus is that they will only put your battery on their charger for free if it needs a charge before testing if you bought it there, otherwise they charge you. Most auto parts stores don't care where you bought it because they know if it is bad they are going to sell you one.

I've only used Battery Plus once, since they aren't located nearby. I got them to program a new key Fob for my daughters 2016 Mazda CX-5 she bought used and only came with one. Poor kid at B+ spent over 4 hours using various machines to get it done and it does work pretty well...after a few electronic gremlins. They only charged me something like $70.....Mazda dealer was asking for an insane amount, I think it was $300.....I've found Mazda prices for just about everything is far above Toyota...they want $30 for an oil filter! WHAT???

Yuasa HJ-S46B24R still the best and cost qbout $200 too. It is still the best and last typically 7 years or more under normal regular usages
