I am replacing the fuel injectors in the morning. I also ordered an endoscope. It will arrive tomorrow. Anything else I should be looking for?

Changed out injectors. they were filthy. Also took off valve cover. No oil/water sludge. Good signs of no damage down below!!

You will not find water or sludge in the engine unless you have been driving with a severely blown head gasket for a long time.

The ends of the injectors will have carbon. That is normal. The tips are the important part.

Did you use an endoscope to inspect the cylinders after the engine has sat for several hours? Usually a failed head gasket on these cars will cause coolant to leak into the cylinders after shutdown.

I went ahead a replaced the head gasket on my 2010. Also replaced the fuel injectors. It runs so much better and so smooth!! But, it did not get rid of the shutter that seems to be on the driver's side when the engine kicks in. The shutter disappears and everything runs great at higher rpms.

The only thing not replaced is the egr valve itself. The cooler is so clean I can see daylight through it! Pipe is clean as well.

EGR, motor mount or transmission mount.
    Any ideas?

Maybe damage to that flywheel thingy between engine and transaxle? Hopefully not.

There's a little black plastic cover on the underside of the transaxle/engine seam, maybe pry it off and see what it looks like?

If there was an internal coolant leak for some time, maybe a slight amount of hydrolock occurred?

Did you do the head gasket yourself? You're semi-pro I guess?

Oh my! Thank you Mendel Leisk.

I think I might try the egr. I cleaned it earlier. How far is the internal rod suppose to move? Seemed like it didn't move much even after cleaning.

Another symptom is the check engine light came on. Techstream said misfire P0302. But plugs, coild and injectors have been replaced in all cylinders.

I did replace the head gasket myself. It's amazing the feats (of strength or stupidity) you can do with good music playing in the background!! Took me 24+/- hours (3 days), start to finish.

If you've got Techstream, and some patience, maybe you can make sense of the EGR diagnostics in the attached, might be able to verify EGR valve performance:

Would this show up anywhere on Techstream? If so, what should I be looking for?

I wonder if there's a Youtube video of the noise a broken flywheel makes on a Prius? Send messages to members here that had the problem?
