Shutdown sequence hung

    I have 2011 Prius a few times now I'll shut the car off it seems to shut everything off but when you exit vehicle the key not detected warning comes on and can't remote lock the doors. This will be in this condition for a day or so.

    I'm wondering if there is a relay getting stuck?

    Anyone willing to point me in direction of info to correct problem?

    Have you checked the key fob battery? Kinda sounds like that.
    Easiest place to start. Next would be the condition of the 12v battery.
    How old is that battery?

    When I test drove my Prius the man said to keep the key close to the start button because the
    battery was weak. He replaced both for me when I bought the car.

    12v is new and good. And not Key fob battery becouse car is supposed to be OFF so not supposed to be looking for fob in that state to report no fob

    Although I do get no fob once in a while in proper driving state

    So I'll expand. : I stop car. I take foot off break. I depress on/off button on dash. Car dash lights go off. I open door. I step out. Car starts to chime like it is is on state and says no fob detected. I press fob to lock car. Car chimes 3 times like car is in ON state.

    But wait car is supposed to be in OFF state.

    This time it was only in this condition for about 3 hours.

    So everything seems off but car still looking for fob and won't lock

    What would fob battery have to do with car looking for fob after car on off switch was pressed to off position?

    What is the traction battery's SOC on the display? One of the symptoms of a failing battery is that the car won't power down.

    The car is alerted to the fob when you get within about 20 feet. That's how it knows to unlock the door
    when you touch the handle.
    I've gotten that message before when I didn't have the key in my pocket, opened the door that was already
    unlocked, and it popped up on the display.
    Yes, the car is off, but it is not detecting the fob. This is why I asked about the fob battery.

    I guess no one would guess chargeing an external battery plugged into aux USB would keep car from locking.

    Open the trunk and close it with attitude. You'd be surprised how many supposedly fob related issues are actually triggered by hatch not being properly closed.

    No matter found problem. I was chargeing an external power supply that is Ctype USB which is in and output. Thus applying power to the aux circuit not allowing the to be fully powered down.
