I have tried the nav system override workaround described elsewhere on this forum several times (the one that starts on the Menu page with the Volume softkey). And it doesn't seem to work on my 06 Prius. Has anyone else had this problem and come up with a solution? Or am I just not holding my mouth right?

the nav override doesn't work on the '06. search the forums and you can find the hardware solution (clipping a wire)... or be the first to figure out the hack!

Both the Phone and Radio lockout can be overcome by cutting a purple speed sensor wire and installing a switch. Then when you want to do either, you turn the sensor off. This will trick the car into thinking you've stopped. Be sure to turn it back on after you're done as this also sends the signal to the 5-minute bars on the Consumption screen and the wheels on the Energy screen.

Go to http://www.evnut.com/prius_speed_wire.htm in order to see what wire to cut. BTW, if you cut the upper purple wire, that will override the speed sensor of the NAV system. Some have put a DPDT switch which takes care of both at the same time. You can also put in a magnetic switch, which is more inconspicuous.

look here => http://evnut.com/prius_mods.htm for other ideas for cheep and low-cost mods.

bradysplace claims to know a way to make the soft-override work in a '06, but he won't share it... :(

This will work with the O6

Really? According to Coastal's Application Guide, it only works for the 2004-2005 models, as it emulates the NAV override workaround.
