Its getting late, so all I'll say is that the site you cited seems to be cherry picking reports of corruption, incompetence, and government business as usual over the last 6 years. Bush and the Republicans are providing plenty of evidence for Acton's law, but hardly invented it. Corporate and government back rubbing goes back a long ways (eg Eisenhower's warning of the military-industrial complex) and its a tad oversimplified to say that 20th century politics consisted of Democrats valiantly defending the Republic against Republican encroachments, cf the Wilson, Roosevelt, and Johnson adminstrations.

 

NP, Ron, I know its late here too. Maybe someday we'll get a chance to talk about it.

I agree it didnt start with Bush. It goes much futher back than that but you have to admit that 2 key players who started their schemes in the 70s are still a big part of our government today even though they often hide out in the private sectors. Their initials are DC and PW... Sleep well man

And DC and DR initiated a mini coup d'tat in the '70s in that same office, while recently DR created his own mini-CIA stocked with well known names now in the Pentagon which generated most of the bad intelligence that Tenet was blamed for.

Ha! As an American Italian, I'm not sure what makes me cringe most. Tony Soprano being a "good guy" that people seem to like, or Mussolini quotes that are relevant today <_<

As an Italian American I am repulsed by the worship of the Godfather movies (and books) and have no interest in The Sopranos no matter how "good" it is or how many awards it wins.

I find nothing admirable about criminals. They are hardly Italian role models. There are more to Italians than "Goodfellows".
