Many cars have the cat directly bolted to the turbo or exhaust manifold. So temperature isn't really an issue.

Now they’re targeting Lexus cars, my local news group on Facebook someone had her car targeted today in a train car park. Three Honda Jazz got robbed by Hall Place in bexley. Showing no signs of slowing.

im surprised this didnt happen sooner.

now that all the gen2 prii have been violated they dont want the gravy train to end so are just targeting any other car they think might be similar.

According to the thread on Facebook they've also been targeting Kia cars as well, not sure what model though.

I wonder when the Grand Theft Cat gang will start vigorously targeting BMWs, Mercedes, Bentleys and Rolls Royce vehicles.
I’m pretty sure this cat theft epidemic would immediately be tackled by law enforcement and the threat eliminated within one calendar month, IF that started to happen in the UK.

    No prizes for guessing why.

As long as it’s only cars the “insignificant little people” use (and some totally rely upon for their daily income), nothing decisive will be done.
    Budget cuts and all that......

I feel that the only way in which something will be done, is that a high profile person, say for example an Member of Parliament, gets their car targeted, and then they may well understand what we have all been through, and wish something to be done about it. However, Brexit seems to be the main focus at the moment, we could make 'Catxit' a real topic of conversation! (even though it sounds like Cat Sick!)

Why should the police bother trying to find the culprits? Nobody has been killed so the likely sentence assuming that someone has been caught and found guilty will be a small fine and perhaps a suspended sentence. It reminds me of the fines handed out to youths that drive without insurance. The cost of insuring a small engine, low performance car for a youth is at least £2000 (probably much more) but the fines for driving without insurance are typically £150.

Perhaps the legendary comic “2000AD” starring Judge Dredd had the right idea about crime and punishment after all.

Catch the “Perp” stealing catalytic converters and dispense immediate justice - the sentence would probably be DEATH on the spot, dispensed by the MegaCity Judge on the spot, with the body then immediately sent to “recycling” instead of being released to his family.

How ironic - we’re in the year 2019 and the 21st century UK Police are nothing like Judge Dredd.

And the criminals are living “La Vida Loco” .

Stop the planet. I want to get off...!!!

Death? A little much don’t you think? How about you go Charles Dickens and throw the crooks into a workhouse until they have fully paid the cost of the repairs? That sounds like more of an English solution to me.

We don’t have enough catholic inquisition anymore.

A truly English solution would be to deport them to Australia

Yeah, you’re closer to the correct resolution Skibob, I was just inspired by the Judge Dredd comics though. Judge, jury and executioner all in one dark visored grim faced package!

Yeah, a touch of Charles Dickens would do the trick, methinks!

I don’t have Facebook as I’m as paranoid as the fictional Fox Mulder of X-Files fame.

Was it a standard OLD Lexus LS400 car or a more modern Lexus R400h Hybrid SUV?
