This week I realized the entire right side of the car doesn't have any sound. It looks like all the speakers aren't working. I'm always the one driving, so I never noticed the issue. I thought it sounded great! :D

We went on a road-trip this week and we split-up the driving. I realized the sound in the passenger side wasn't as strong as the driver side, so I went and shifted the sound control to completely be on the right side and to my surprise no sound came out. It looks like all the speakers on the right side aren't functioning, except for possibly the small side speaker, because I heard a little bit of sound after putting it on max volume (70).

I'm excited to work on the car again and take it apart! I'm wondering if this is a bigger job than I think since there isn't any sound coming from the right side of the car.

Has anyone experienced this before in their 2nd Gen Prius?

I have the JBL edition, 2007.

Isn't this a hoot. I just started doing a total disassembly of my 2007 parts car. Started with the interior yesterday. Noticed it had the JBL system. Perhaps it's just something due to the amp under the passenger seat? There's a handful of wiring that goes along the passenger side of the center console under the carpet and then to that amp. Perhaps a damaged wire issue or failed amp?

    Thanks, I'll look for this.

I'm thinking of taking off a working speaker from the right side and trying it on the right side to see if it works.

    UPDATE

I found out the issue weren't the speakers or the amp. I found out it was a faulty aAUXux cord. While playing CD's, I noticed the speakers worked great. I switched to the AUX and noticed the issue. After some tampering around I found out the AUX cable was faulty.

    Great find!

A good example of proper diagnosis rather than just throwing parts at a problem.

Yes, there have been many times when I just jumped in without looking at the whole picture.

Below is a link to the AUX cables I picked up at the local Guitar Center, instead of on Amazon. Pricey, but nice quality and good guarantee.
