    Hi all,
I am thinking of doing uber or lyft part time and am looking for a cell phone holder. I would prefer not to cover the vent or use the CD (but if I have to I will). Right now I am pretty strict about using the phone while driving, but will have to some of it while on the job.

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated,
    Rob

I use THIS but it goes in the CD player.

For me, it has to be a magnetic phone mount or I won't use it.

I'd say this one is ok, I'm sure there are better, but it does what it is supposed to do.

Didn’t someone get a flex stalk that they attached to passenger seat track bolt?

I also have used the ProClip products (ProClip USA | Car Phone Holders and Dashboard Phone Mounts). I got the first one after I got our 2004 Prius (in 2004)

Their system is expensive, but will stand up to much more use and abuse than anything else I have tried. You have to get two parts:
    1. The mount base, that is custom for the vehicle and mounting location. You have to select which side of the steering wheel you want it. The base clips (VERY firmly) to the dash area utilizing existing seams & joints.
    2. The device mount, which is specific to your device. There are various types to meet most needs. The device mount it attached to the mount base with four screws. Your device is held firmly but is still removable.

I definitely recommend this, and I am planning on outfitting our new RAV4 Hybrid with one soon. Before our next long road trip. (Even if she thinks it's an extravagance. To me, it's safety, not convenience.)
