Trying to install cruise control on my 2008 model. Read around a few forums and decided I needed to install a cruise control switch and a new brake stop light switch that is cruise control compatible. Purchased and installed the following aftermarket parts:
    • XtremeAmazing Cruise Control Switch 84632-08021 FOR Toyota Camry Corolla Matrix Prius Tundra
    • Beck Arnley 201-1566 Stop Light Switch
Now my cruise control light will turn on and stay illuminated but will not activate when I try to set the speed. What issues could be causing my cruise control not to set?

    Possibly Helpful Troubleshooting Info:
    • I accidentally dropped the new brake light switch before install, but the brake lights still come on so I think the part is ok
    • Several climate control buttons on the steering wheel do not work

Probably a bad clock spring. It's the part that connects cables to the steering wheel.

+1 if you’re already having trouble with some steering wheel switches, it’s likely to impact cruise-related switches too.

Ended up being the cruise control switch itself. Was reading Amazon reviews and a couple reviewers noted that cruise would turn on, but wasn't able to be set. Bought a genuine Toyota 84632-08021 from the dealership parts counter and it worked perfectly.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have to look into a potential clock spring issue
