What adhesive/sealant to use on gas tank access hatch panel cover?

Recently replaced the fuel pump on 2013 Prius Two at 153k miles.
Of course I had to take the back seat out and then access it through the "round access hatch cover".

Anyone know what the original "black tar" adhesive sealant is called? Brand recommendations?
(It really looks and acts like "black sticky-but-not-super-sticky tar".)

    Thank you!

Your local auto glass place can probably sell you a little roll of urethane-bead-on-a-backing-tape that is probably either the same kind of stuff Toyota used, or close enough to get the job done. But doesn't the manual say what they use?

    Good thinking about the manual!
However I was unable to find any section dealing with "gas tank service door" directions or diagrams.

In the end, although I probably lost about 1/4-1/3 of the original sealant, I just reused it and it seems to hold OK (loss due to masking the hole while working on it).
Hopefully in the winter when the elasticity is less it will still hold well enough.

    Thank you.

Yeah I don't see any mention of sealant in the manual. 2nd contacting a glass place.

It’s at the bottom of page 21 of the PDF document @Mendel Leisk kindly posted: “Install the rear floor service hole cover with new butyl tape.” In the complete Repair Manual (more info), there is also an entry under General: Preparation: 2ZR-FXE Fuel: SSM (special service materials), stating that a “Butyl Tape Set” is required. You might consider 3M’s Windo-Weld sealer series, since Toyota’s own butyl tape kit (part number 08850-00065) is apparently no longer available.

The Japanese editions of the manuals often say more about tools and materials, by the way, and this is no exception: 「ブチルテープセット (株)タクティー扱いV9350-0616」. In other words: butyl tape set, item number V9350-0616, distributed by TACTI Corporation., whose Chemicals & Tools Catalog says it comes with 2 meters of tape. A customer shared a photo of the kit contents; I can’t find the instruction sheet online. Besides the tape and primer, the kit comes with a sponge and piano wire, for cutting away an old windshield.

Yeah, the "butyl seal tape" picture on Amazon, little bead of sticky stuff rolled up on a brown paper backing, looks pretty much like what the auto glass shop set me up with some years ago. "Butyl", not "urethane", so much for my memory. :)

I'm wondering whether it would be reasonable to use RTV sealant for this purpose. For example, the Toyota sealant used to seal the spark plug tubes.

If you have a Home Depot store thereabouts, this stuff will work great (Butyl roofing sealant, 40ft roll, around five bucks).

That's more or less what the roll I got from my local auto glass place looked like (and cost, if I remember right).

RTV usually requires some amount of clamping force between the two surfaces.
