It's hard to say. Of course, they will have more rebates in the future eventually. By the way Culver City Toyota has a huge stock of the Limited and you can try to see if they price-match.

Looking into a 2020 XLE in blizzard white, got a quote for $26,663 +ttl after the $1500 cash rebate in the Bay area. Does that quote sound like a decent one?

Yes, although some got it for about $700 less but that's the lowest anyone has ever paid.

    Purchased 2020 Premium XLE @ $29,000 - $1500 incentive - $1500 dealer negotiation match + tax/title/fees
Total OTD $29,728 ==> $10,228 out of pocket - $4502 tax rebate $5726 to upgrade to an extra seat + better infotainment
Not sure that's a stellar deal but uh.. thought I'd share :) what I miss the most of my 2017 Prime is the black/white interior, I don't care much for the black accents in the 2020, and can't believe they don't make black/white contrast in the moonstone option.. the interior in the 2017 just felt more 'premium' i guess pun intended, than the XLE 2020.. off topic but had to share :)

Decent deal followingalex. You get the newest features, plus new wear items like tires, paint, windshield. And 3 years of warranty and roadside assistance. It’ll be worth more than your 2017 when it comes time to sell it, so you’ll recoup most of that $5726.

    hello,
Got my 2020 Prius Prime LE (Blizzard Pearl) from Gresham Toyota Oregon on Saturday. The price was 24600 for the LE + WA state tax and title and doc fee. Came to 27700$ OTD. So far fantastic experience and smooth ride.

Does anyone know when I can start applying for the Federal rebate of 4500$?. Can it be done only when I file taxes or I can do that anytime? is there any website link that someone can post so I can read what's the process to claim it.

You get it as a deduction when you do your taxes this year.

"The Federal EV Tax Credit is not a rebate on the price of the car that you get instantly when making the purchase. You have to apply to receive it when you file your annual tax return. You or your tax professional will fill out an IRS Form 8936, which is submitted with your return. Since it is a tax credit, you have to wait until you file your next year’s return before you will receive the tax incentive.

If you file your taxes yourself, be sure that your tax preparation software includes the proper forms and ability to apply for the credit. Not all do. You cannot claim the tax credit until you take delivery of the new vehicle. Deposits and prepayments do not count."

First congrats on the new Prime !!!!!

I haven't read things completely myself yet but I am fairly sure it is done at the time you file your yearly federal taxes.

Here's a link to the actual form you can print out -

    https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8936.pdf

Here is a web page about the credit -

Plug In Electric Vehicle Credit IRC 30 and IRC 30D | Internal Revenue Service

Qualified Plug-In Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit (IRC 30D) Phase Out
The qualified plug-in electric drive motor vehicle credit phases out for a manufacturer’s vehicles over the one-year period beginning with the second calendar quarter after the calendar quarter in which at least 200,000 qualifying vehicles manufactured by that manufacturer have been sold for use in the United States (determined on a cumulative basis for sales after December 31, 2009) (“phase-out period”). Qualifying vehicles manufactured by that manufacturer are eligible for 50 percent of the credit if acquired in the first two quarters of the phase-out period and 25 percent of the credit if acquired in the third or fourth quarter of the phase-out period. Vehicles manufactured by that manufacturer are not eligible for a credit if acquired after the phase-out period.

(Note: even though it only lists up to 2019 on the page below, they likely ust need to update it because I think Toyota has a ways to go to reach the 200,000 amount required to start the phase out)

IRC 30D New Qualified Plug-In Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit | Internal Revenue Service

    2017, 2018, 2019 Toyota Prius Prime Plug-in Hybrid $4,502

EDIT TO ADD: here is a link to the Toyota page that includes a link to the Federal incentive as well as POSSIBLE state incentives IF your state offers them -

Wow, this is a way better price than anyone has ever got so far. Even $26k on the 2020 Prius Prime LE Blizzard Pearl would have been a great price. Enjoy!

It's not a rebate. It's a tax credit. Yes, you claim it when you file your 2019 tax return. Since it's a tax credit, if you're already paying less federal tax than the maximum possible $4,502 credit, you can only get up to the federal tax you're paying.

The great 2019 rebates were to clear out the old models as the new ones were coming in. There will be no similar reason to do the same for 2020 models until the 2021s are ready to start coming in.

There might be some holiday deals, but they won't be nearly as good as the old-model clearance deals.

If you are in the market for a car you should consider the prime and take advantage of the state rebate and federal tax rebate. To give you an example, in Oregon if you get the prime LE for 25000$ here is the actual amt you pay:

car price = 25000 (this includes the toyota 2000$ rebate currently upto 30-sep-2019)
    - federal rebate -4500
    -Oregon state rebate -1500
    no sales tax in oregon.
essentially you are getting the car OTD 19000$. this is insane price for the prime. So take advantage of all these credits.

    -Model/color 2020: Prime Limited - Supersonic Red
    -Msrp: $ 33,500 + $395 (Special Paint) + $259 (All-Weather Floor Liners/Cargo Mat) = $35,084
    - Dealer Installed Options - $695 (Protection Package & Pin Striping) = $35,779.
-Incentives (specify if Toyota rebate or dealer markdown) - $1,000 Labor Day Customer Cash*
-Selling price before TTL - $34,726. before trade-in of $10,000 - so net price before TTL - $24,726.
    -Out the door price (after TTL/fees, specify tax NJ = 6.625%) $36.096. less trade $10,000 = $26,096.
-Dealer location - Toyota World of Clinton, New Jersey

    * Purchased on 8/31/19 during Labor Day sale - on 9/4 the Customer Cash increased to $1,500, so $500 more than my deal - I sent email/called Toyota Customer Care - after discussion Representative offered $500 credit toward Toyota Accessories or Services from an Authorized Toyota Dealer, required to send in Service Order and copy of Credit Card Payment slip. This credit enabled me to get the Body Side Molding and Rear Bumper Applique parts & install with the credit.

i would certainly do some more shopping. if it's a 2020, might be all you can do for now, but worth looking.
deals should improve as inventory builds, but who knows?

This is very misleading. It’s a tax credit, not a rebate. This means that you don’t get that $4500 until after you file your taxes, assuming you qualify for it, and so you are parting the sale price up front. You still have to either have the cash or be able to finance that sale price at the time of purchase, not the price minus the tax credit.
