153k miles and doing the whole EGR circuit cleaning. (languishing at EGR cooler removal ... uggghhhh)
I have the intake manifold (IM) completely off. (have a spare, clean, used one from ebay $120)

I'm trying to clean the "intake tracks on the cylinder head" (i.e. where the IM mates with the engine)(is there a better name?)[reference: NAB video "Intake manifold cleaning" at 23:20]

I know NOT to spray cleaner in.
Is it safe to use brake cleaner sparingly on a cloth rag to wipe it down though?
I also know NOT to clean the fuel injectors at the back. If the cleaning cloth brushes against it ... that's ok right? (i.e. they're not that delicate are they?)

    Thank you!

Yes, it is safe to use brake cleaner or carb cleaner on a cloth to wipe down the cylinder head intake ports.
Dont worry about brushing against the fuel injectors, the fuel injectors are not overly delicate.
I found the EGR cooler took far longer to clean compared to the intake manifold (a spare EGR cooler off eBay would be preferred over intake manifold)

Thanks much Ken ... will proceed as advised on the cylinder head intake ports (knew there was a better name!).

I did also order a new EGR cooler 25601-37010 from ebay seller triplecreations $142+30=$172 (fast ship from Dubai/UAE, was skeptical but appears 100% genuine).
Just having so much trouble with access to the back of the EGR cooler and rusted bolts ... trying to Kroil it now.

The back nuts aren’t easy .

Once you get the lower one off, be ready to catch the gasket;).

Good luck and keep us posted (y).
