2010 Prius and Samsung Galaxy S10 Note, Bluetooth won't pair

I just got a Samsung S10 Note and tried to pair it with my 2010 non-nav Bluetooth system. I've never had any trouble pairing the Prius with different phones but when I go through the steps in the Prius owner's manual all I get is the "voice" saying "searching". It says it about 10 times then says it can't find a device and to try again later. I thought there might be some confusion with all of the other listed devices in the Prius Bluetooth system so I deleted them all. Still got the "searching" and it can't find the phone.

I've found some YouTube videos about pairing phones but they are all done with 2010 vehicles with the nav system which I don't have. Is the 2010 incapable of pairing with newer phones? I can't imagine it's anything other than a software update by Toyota but can the dealers update the Bluetooth system? Living in Washington where we have strict laws about only using hands-free devices is not ideal if I can't pair this phone. The last phone I paired with was a Moto Z2 about 2 years ago and that was easy to do.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

Well after seeing no responses on this site I checked the Samsung web site and searched for issues dealing with the entire S10 line. There were hundreds of complaints about no S10 models being able to pair with older Bluetooth systems.

Today out of the blue I got a screen opening up on the phone asking if I wanted to pair my S10 Note with a Bluetooth device. I hustled out to my Prius and got it in Bluetooth mode. When I started the pairing process I was asked for the 4 digit code, entered it and within seconds my S10 was paired with my Prius. I tested with a phone call and now the system is working.

I'm guessing that Samsung, Toyota or both were being hammered with this issue. Either or both must have sent out a software update to either the Bluetooth app on the phone or to the Prius. In any case it works now and that takes care of that issue.

I just got the note 10 and had the same issue. I deleted all the BT devices on the phone and it worked.

Btw, I used smart switch to transfer over my files from the old to the new.
