Press the button for the hazard flashers, which should force all four turn signal lights to blink on and off. Do they work now?

If they do not, check the following fuses: 10A HAZ, 10A GAUGE. "Check" means that you find the fuse in question, remove it, and test continuity by using a multimeter set to the ohmmeter position. Do not rely upon visual inspection.

Sometimes you need the wiring diagram for the car to be able to troubleshoot it.

There may be some relays in the system.

We're working along the same lines I believe. If the immobilizer warning light was previously working, but isn't now, it's one more thing pointing to a loss of power in that area. If it wasn't flashing previously (due to led failure or something) then I didn't want to assume. Also, you are correct, there will be a "ding" chime if the power button is pressed with no key present, and the yellow key warning symbol will light up, except for when the sks is deactivated (there will be no 'ding' and no key warning light, but the immobilizer light should still flash).

Is it the fob or not? I've checked today with mine (SKS on):

Without fob in car:
Red immobilizer warning light is slowly flashing.
With opened door the red open door warning light occurs.
Trying to start results in a single beep and the yellow no key warning light lights up for some seconds.

With fob in car:
Red immobilizer warning light is slowly flashing.
With opened door the red open door warning light occurs. With fob in slot in addition to open door there is a beep-beep-beep-...

When you said you checked all the fuses, most cars have more than one fuse box. Did you check the one on the inside of the car under the dash on the left side of the steering column? Watch the second part of this video and it will show you where it is. I never saw mine and I owned my Gen 2 Prius for 10 years.

Interior Fuse Box Location: 2004-2009 Toyota Prius - 2005 Toyota Prius 1.5L 4 Cyl.

There is a third fuse in the luggage compartment also.

This says 2008-2009 and I don't know if there is any difference than yours so check your owners manual.

I would assume all this information is in your owners manual, read it.

Have had my 2007 Prius for 150,000 + miles now, and love it, but a month or so ago it failed to turn on at first attempt, and at second attempt it turned on with a blank dash display. I was alarmed but drove home without incident and scanned the forums for fixes. I did the door shut and close and power button trick and the display reappeared, also unlinked and re-linked 12 volt as per another fix. No further problems. Then 3 weeks later it wouldn't start at all. Dead as a doornail. No lights or power to locks etc. Jumped it (properly) and it worked fine for the next 2 weeks. Then same thing, wont start, and jumping it did nothing. Checked the 12 volt in the back and it was dead, bought a new one and installed it. Had to get a new battery cable for the 12 volt pencil post connection (negative) because it was welded to the old terminal (may have arched?), and there was no removing or rescuing it. I also put new batteries in both my fobs. Installation went fine, but it still wont start. No lights or response from the on button. I do notice now that I have replaced the 12v battery, that the power locks work, the mini lights at the bottom of the doors come on when I open the door, and the auto unlock happens when the fob approaches the car. When I put the fob in, and push the button (I press the brake all the way down hard, and have tried pushing power multiple times), I can hear the noise I normally hear the whirl click, before or after the prius starts or turns off. But no display, no triangle symbol, no response from the car. I checked all the fuses, then had my mechanic come over and check my work. He tightened the 12v cables and check all fuses and battery (prius main battery and 12v) and couldn't find anything wrong. He suggested I get someone to tow it to the Toyota dealership or someone who specifically knows a lot about hybrid/electric cars, because he is out of his depth. I think with the combined knowledge of the prius chat members, I may have a chance to avoid that final option. Any thoughts?

Sorry for ghosting. UPDATE: after having my Prius for 9 months the Toyota service center gave up and left me with a $3,000 bill and a car that doesn’t work. I managed to negotiate my bill down to $700. Sold the Prius as is for peanuts. Worst experience ever.

Hmmmm….. reading through this thread again makes me believe this is all an AM2 fuse ….

Acrid smell (inverter cooling water pump burning up)
Loss of dash and display....
only the door ajar and the car/key symbol...

Been several times that people think they checked all the fuses, but missed it......

Everything points to ICWP and AM2...

wish I had known that earlier, but most of my ICWP experience has occurred after this thread started..

I rode the bus for almost a year . Now I have purchased a new 2019 Prius Limited. We love it but now having installation issues with Uhaul, they can’t get the trailer lights to work... but that’s another thread lol.
