    From the picture, the “nub” on the crank looks like it is past 12 o clock. If you reinstall the crank bolt with the timing cover, do your marks line up with 0?

    Gonna recheck but it was. Probably looks that way becouse the engine is not at 0. Engine is installed at angle.

    Another thing that seems to be confusing is that with every 4 turns it seems to advance 3 links. But timing marks continue to line up with land marks

    Seems like it's a minor misalignment: the engine will run, but it's not that happy.

    Engine should be turned by hand to take our slack in chain.

    Starts smoother and stops smoother then it has since I've owned it.

    It doesn't get easier with age! 184,000 miles and mine is still running fine.
    I think because the previous owner did a lot of highway driving and rarely went over 65mph.
    I cleaned the egr system around 125,000 miles and it didn't look bad at all.

    I would like to do one though, just to do it. Everything I've done on the Prius as been super easy.

    I'm glad you are back up and running!

    Why does it look like you got the intake timing off by one tooth advanced and the exhaust off by a bunch of teeth?
