I took my first trip of about 250 each way on a hilly interstate this weekend. Northern Virginia to Blacksburg, VA and back on I-81. Averaged about 44mpg for the trip driving with cruise control engaged at 75-76mph. Does that seem about right? This was both the trip computer and verified by miles/gallons at fillup.

On my work commute I'm averaging about 59mpg in stop and go traffic which I'm happy with. A big step up from my 2007 Prius.

That sounds OK for extreme driving like that. You're not expecting to go 200,000 miles without major work, right?

Why would you classify that as 'extreme' driving? Driving 75mph with a properly maintained car I would consider 'normal' driving. Are you considering "major work" battery or ice and why?

Hello, my past experiences have yielded about the same results. Driving at speeds of 70 and above (as I do daily) will reduce your mpg. The sweet spot is 62 mph. Daily commute will almost always yield higher results. You’re doing fine, enjoy the savings.

Sounds about right for those speeds.

Thanks everbody. I was figuring that mileage was normal. Slightly better / inline with the old '07. That spare takes up a bit of trunk space. I knew I needed to take it because if I left it in the garage Murphy's law would have taken over.

Sounds about right. On my 2010 (so not a PiP), I got 35mpg calculated (39mpg indicated) on a stretch with 80mph limits. (Average speed for that tank ended up being 74mph according to the Trip Computer). That tank was only 130 miles however (we were on a road trip so we topped up whenever we saw lower prices or to reduce inconveniences down the road)
