I just moved to the Berkshires in Massachusetts, so I should see a lot of winter weather.

People around here are 50/50 whether I need snow tires or all weather.

I need to buy new tires. I used to have Bridgestone Ecopia 422 and liked them a lot for southern CA. Now I have another that I don't like.

How will the Ecopia 422 be for winter driving here?

    Thanks!

Slow and steady will get you just about anywhere, but with the Gen 2’s tendency to not let you spin the wheels much if at all, I’d go with snows. Especially if you want to go anywhere at a reasonable speed. Without them, hills can really be a problem.

In CT, I use the 422s in summer and Blizzaks in the winter.

I just replaced my original import tires with those Bridgestones. My wife has had great results with hers over the past 2 winters here in Minnesota on her Prius. So, it was a no-brainer getting them for mine. (Our weather here in late winter resembles yours... warmer, with lots of heavy snow.)

Just back to PriusChat after many years. My 2008 Gen ll needs replacement all season tires (Michigan roads and weather). Most of what I find on the forums now is understandably very dated. At that time (2008-2009) the recommendations were Nokian WR?, Ecopia 422, Hankook Optima 727 and Michelin Defenders. Before buying I'd need some info on what is recommended now in 2019. I'm sure some of the older tires models are no longer available and replaced by new ones. I need to make a decision this week. With no other data I will buy my third set of Nokians. They have been good, A little noisy and a slight MPG hit, but worked reasonably well in show. I had original OEM then WRG, then WRG2 and I think currently available is WRG4 which depending on what I hear back I will buy. Any timely help in my decision process is greatly appreciated. 185 65 15
Thank you and glad to see the forums still alive and well. A fabulous resource.

Typo above, sorry. I meant to write "worked reasonably well in snow", not "in show"
