We are shopping for a replacement HV battery for my buddy's 2010 Prius III. He is getting P0A80 and too many battery blocks showing low voltage. He kind of wants to replace the whole pack instead of trying to replace modules. I don't blame him.

We are definitely NOT plan on getting a new OEM battery pack.

There are several places selling refurbished packs and only one (so far I found) sells new aftermarket HV battery pack (newpriusbatteries.com). Though cells have different form factor (D-size cells). They sell the complete pack for around $1600 for Gen3.
Anyone has any experience with these? They come with 2-year 25,000miles warranty.

Or Would you consider refurbished battery?

I do not have experience with them YET. But when the time comes, that’s what I’m getting. That’s owned by 2k1 Toaster and a simple search on this site will have plenty of positive reviews of his stuff.

I would absolutely not consider a refurbished battery. "Refurbished" is rebuilt with used cells. If I needed an HV battery, I'd be talking to @2k1Toaster .

I just replaced my traction battery with these cylinder cells from newPriusbatteries.Com. Best decision I made regarding the traction battery.

    1. Electrically they are identical.
    2. Half as many cells to put back together
    3. You don't have to tension the pack on reassembly.
    4. Allows for better air flow, the cylinder batteries can respond to Cooling instantly.
    5. Because you're not having to replace the OEM air duct tubing, the reassembly goes quicker

I'm a senior citizen, and I did it myself. It was well worth the day that it took for me too remove and replace with a brand new pack.
