one of the Gen 2 Prius owners here put Volvo seats in his car. Considering all that work with airbags, quite an accomplishment.

Interesting and quite the job! I was really afraid of non-Volvo seats bothering me after 20 years in Volvo seats, but I can say that for me, Gen 2 seats are fine. They are not Volvo seats, but for myself they are not that bad. I drove this car 1,000 miles on one trip from Mssachusetts to Tennessee earlier this year and had no issues at all. In fact, I felt less tired in my Gen 2 on a long trip behind the wheel that in any other car I have driven. Not sure why, but fatigue was very reasonable and seats did not kill my back or even hurt it. They were just fine. But that is a very personal thing and varies with individual's anatomical particulars, I suppose. I also own a 2006 Toyota Matrix and the seats on that seem even more comfortable than the Prius, but after a little over an hour in them I do not want to drive anymore. The whole car including the seats tires me out much faster than the Prius. Not sure why, but that's the way it is. I drove my Volvos between Washington DC area in Maryland and Boston a lot and they were pretty good for that, but I still think Gen 2 Prius is overall easier to drive long distances for me. It fits me very well.

Had a 2004 Matrix and 2005 Prius, and I swear they had the same seats. Fine for the commute, but they start to get bothersome on long trips. As you say, it is a personal thing. I prefer sitting upright, and Toyota's don't have enough headroom for my preferred position. So I compromise. The Sonic was more comfortable for me than the Camry.

This is the classroom I learned to drive in. You can't get much more upright than that. Kind of amazed I fit into our c. Admittedly I can usually feel my hair on the headliner.

    I miss my buses.

Once the hair is all gone, that will no longer be an issue, but the top edge of the windshield close too center line of site will still be. I've gotten use to the slight recline needed for the Camry.
