    Hi guys,

any guidance on the following would be appreciated. So I have 2007 Prius with 100K Miles on the clock.

Every so often the car refuses to go to "READY". I did a bit of digging I believe this is due the 12v battery.

on the internal hidden menu it reads 9.6v etc when on ACC mode. When the car is running its 14v. So time for a new battery 12v?

2nd issue I have is to with ABS/VCS (!) light coming up only when i get to speeds of 66mph. I checked on techstream on the live data and it shows the front near side sensor lags behind the other speed sensor in term of picking the speeds. Is this a case of getting a new sensor or perhaps cleaning it?

    Thanks

    Yes and yes.
Your battery is definitely worn out. It's amazing that it starts up at all.

But wait with the wheel sensor until after the new battery is in place for a couple of days.
I would suggest checking the connector at the wheel sensor first too.

Have you checked with the dealership, what they have, and price?

Good catch. Silly me thought that "lion" must be some English battery brand, since he's from the UK.

I agree on the general points above. The 12V battery is toast (well, unless there is a problem with clamps, cables, etc.). And it would not be a surprise if replacing that makes other problems go away, so replace that first before worrying too much about other issues. Then worry about the other issues.

Their line is always engaged and they haven't replied to a email i sent weeks back. Besides the local stealer will charge a fortune for this.

    Lion is a brand name.

If there's a Toyota dealer nearby, I'd check there first. Really good batteries. But most any auto parts store should have something for the Prius.

Well I guess it IS a brand of battery.
Sometimes things ARE what they appear. :D

Any AGM battery of the right physical size and with the right posts should be fine.
Don't think we have too many owners here in the UK.

Try dropping in? They can't all hide under the counters, lol. You're probably right, it'll be a fool's mission, but who knows.

Just found out the battery was changed 1 year ago at a dealer by previous owner. I spoke to the dealer they said it comes with 3 warranty so as long it within warranty i might be able claim against them and get it done free!

I find it odd the battery is dying already though...

What's your use of the car like? is it driven daily, or at least several times weekly, and how many miles, what kind of trips?

Do you sometimes sit in the car in "accessory" mode, listening to the radio for protracted time?

Any "incidents", door left ajar overnight, stuff like that?

My wifes car not driven much at all. Maybe 300 miles a month but driven on most days. We never used acc mode but I think we had some incidents were the kids have left the internal lights on in the back. The battery died again today after i checked the battery to see what type it was. Maybe a back hatch issue? But i always make sure no lights are on.
