    Hello wonderful Prius community,

After 10 years of faithful service from my 1996 Jeep grand Cherokee Larado, I decided to replace it with a hybrid. After much research on line I narrowed the choice down to an Escape hybrid, Prius, or Camry hybrid. More research narrowed the choice to the Toyotas. I must say that this active forum, and other wonderful reviews and resources on the web, I placed my order today for a 2007 Prius touring edition with package 6 from the new 2007 Toyota brochure, or C package from the Toyota Website. My dealer here in Colorado Springs just happened to have a magnetic gray Touring meeting these specs in assembly. I think I would have preferred the silver pica metallic with the bisque interior but the dealer said it would take 3 to 4 months to get that color with all the options. The Mag. gray should be here in 4 to 6 weeks! There is not a complete VIN yet, only 8 digits, but I'm hoping that I really will get it by November. I'll miss the Sept. 30 deadline but still feel good about it being an 07' and the touring edition, and the one-half tax credit. I paid MSRP only. It should be the first 07 loaded Touring Edition in southern Colorado.

Can you guys help me with a few questions?

How do I monitor the build and shipment progress?
The dealer wants to charge me $202 for glass etching. Is this worth it?
How can I best prepare myself for my new Prius? (What to read, study)

I want to thank you all for having and sharing such a great community! I am also a Mac nut and a Tivo freak, both of which also have wonderful online communities.

Hey! Congrats and welcome to PriusChat!

    1. The dealer should be able to tell you the shipment progress. That's how I was informed

    2. Glass etching? Don't think it's necessary.

    3. Go to the Knowledge Base (KB) section of the forum and read up on "Why don't I get the EPA estimates?" There are also other useful threads in there too such as how to turn off the reverse beep.

I cannot find the demo anywhere on the Toyota site. Do you have a link?

Etching is to bloat dealer's profit.

    Skip etching.

Skip lo-jack, sealant, prepaid maintenance, et al. If you want the extended warranty buy it here from Troy unless they can meet his price. Don't mention Priuschat or Troy when you negotiate.

I too ordered a 2007 today, but mine is already in port and scheduled for delivery sometimes after Sept. 19th. I checked with other dealers (not the one I ordered at), and seems like 19th is the next date that Toyota corporate assigns the next batch of Prius allocation, so you may want to call your dealer for an update then.
