Prius 2007 build'n'price

The new 2007 build page is effective for my area also at 49424. I think now the 2006 model are done production-wise and the 2007's are now in the works. Most likely my model when it comes in in Nov will be 2007.

 

Works for me too. My zip code is 94706. I windoer what the difference between the 2006 Prius and the 2007 Prius is?

What I heard is mainly a difference when ordering the touring edition. My zip code in NJ still lists 2006 only, so it was fun to type in 94041 and check out the prices and packages.

 

I did a test build based on the 2007 specs, and I have noted that without the touring model, configured with package #5 the MSRP is slightly less than the 06 was with the same specs.

I have noted that the base model price for the Touring is almost a $1,000 difference from the regular model.

 

I did a test too for the Northeast. If you just want a basic car with smart key it seems Pkg.#3 isn't availible in the Northeast so the touring edition with Pkg. 2 is actually cheaper.

 

In 90720, for the 2007, it looks like all of the standard colors are there except the green.

 

t's still 2006 in 77388, so I assume it's that way in all of the Gulf States region.

 

Ok,So I checked out the toyota site, and still cannot figure something out... What is the big differences with the Touring Edition? Does it come with a little badge of the rear hatch that says "touring edition"? Whats so special about it?

The 2007 Touring has a number of items standard that are in various option packages for the "regular" Prius. Among the major differences are larger wheels, HID standard and a longer spoiler. Here is the link at Toyota.com: http://www.toyota.com/prius/models.html

The 07 is there for Arizona and it looks like I would have only had to pay an additional $794.00 over my 06 that I bought 3 months ago. But then you have to add the tax saving of $3000 something compared to $1500 something. So lets say I saved $2300 but don't have the larger wheels, or handling pak. Sould I have waited ? I have been waiting for a 06 White Prius #3 for 2 months. Found Gray, Blue, Red but waited because for $ 25K I don't want to settle.

Then yesterday Power Toyota contacted me, 3 2007 Silver #2 scheduled for delivery anytime after Sept 19. I rushed to Toyota site, noticed 2006 web page is gone, replaced by 2007's, and tried 90211 zip, and found for CA base Prius come in pkg #1, 2, 5 & 6, and Touring pkg comes in only pkg 6 (almost $6K). Kind of sucks because my top choice would have been Touring #2. Anyhow, looks like base #2 is the best pkg for the money. About $200 more than 2006 #3, but with VSC, and one less year depreciation.

Not really believing Power, I called other dealers (where I had/have my deposit money), and found that smaller dealers are still receiving 2006 allocations, and bigger ones not won't know what's coming nexdt until Sept. 19th.

Anyhow, figuring I have nothing to lose, so I went to Power today and got on the list there. I got the second of the three, one more left (as of noon today). I know I am bending my color preference, but if I can get a one year newer car, added VSC, and the full tax credit (as long as the car comes before Sept. 30), for the same money as a 2006 #3, I can learn to like silver.

WHile I was there I got a 2007 brochure; still skimpy but looks better than 2006's. The touring does look nice (wheels, HID, fog, updated suspension, larger rear spoiler standard), same mileage (bigger wheels did not change things), and the base price $23K is great. But in CA you will need to pay $6K more for obligatory pkg #6. I tried NJ/DC address and both areas offer Touring with #2 (much cheaper), but not #6. I guess Toyota thinks Californians either get lost easy (thus we need NAV), or we are made of money (wrong).

Somewhat I suspect Toyota's decision to send CA loaded Prii because it wants the extra profits to pay for CA's CARB warranty. Conspiracy theory?

The base Prius does not look too different, perhaps updated interior lights or something. Colors and interior stay the same.

Anyhow, if you are hoping to get a 2007 before Sept. 30, it may be possible. Best check with your local dealer now or the 19th, when Toyota allocates the next batch of Prius. Good luck.

 

Anyone know who decides (or what factors play into) which packages are available to which areas of the country? I put in an order for '07 about a week ago, and at the time the dealer didn't know about the Touring Edition. I learned about the TE over the weekend, but when I tried to build one to my specs online (Package #6 Touring), it wasn't an option in my ZIP code (19713). (I still asked my dealer if he can change my order to a Package #6 Touring.) Is it just a matter of time?

 

When I put my zip in - 66221 - I can get the Touring, but only in certain colors. I want the magnetic gray with pkg 6, but not available according to toyota.com. I'm gonna check with my dealer - I'm between 2 - and see if they can get the gray. One dealer is $200 cheaper than the other. I'm also confused about package numbers! Is the old #6 pkg the same as a #8? I just don't want to order the wrong one!

 

As of today (9/22) the Toyota.com "Build your Prius" is updated to the 2007 for Texas areas. Must've happened within the last 2 - 4 days.

Differences in the 2006 & 2007: $490 by my calculations. 2006 quoted $22,360 base price, 2007 quotes $22,850. The 2007 does include the side airbags as standard which makes the increase basically a "wash" for the higher numbered packages.

North Texas dealers are still charging MSRP for the 2006's in transit with some adding "Market Adjustment" or added "packages" to enhance their profits. I have not found a North Texas dealer who discounts the MSRP but have found some who would sell at MSRP and not add "extras." No info yet on their policies for the 2007's.

If I buy a 2007, there's a good possibility that I would "fly and drive" to buy from an out-of-state dealer.
