So the code came back but there was no injector leaks, the maf is known good, the coils have all been replaced and no misfires so assumed good. Spark plugs have been replaced.
Fuel pressure is up as fuel is spraying out when removing injectors.
I could replace the exhaust and a/f sensor...
Not sure about the efi m relay or ecm.

I did wonder if the Chinese injectors were delivering extra fuel if they weren't to spec.

So I've replaced them with another set of injectors. The car ran very rough then hit a lot of errors.

    P0a0f engine failed to start
    P3190 engine low power
    C1259 hv charging error
    C1310 hv system malfunction
    B1421

Also getting a lot of misfires from cylinder 3 so I'm assuming this is a failed injector. I'm planning on swapping out that injector and seeing if the error goes away.

Another thread with the same errors had a fuel pump failure.

I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew with this car although I am learning a lot!

So after a very busy day swapping out injectors I've ended up with a set giving no misfires and no P0172 code (too Rich bank1 ). It does look like the Chinese injectors were to blame for that one.

The bad news is I am still getting the P0420 bad cat code o_O So even though the missfires are at zero on techstream the bad cat code has come back.

Reading another thread that said this could be down to oil consumption and given that I have some oil in the throttle body I have replaced the PCV valve and cleaned the pipe.
The oil catch can idea does seem to be a good one so I will look to find and install an after market one.

I've also ordered some wynns engine flush as I'm due the 280,000 mile oil change then I can track it every 5000 miles. The oil consumption can be down to clogged oil channels on the pistons but it's probably going to be worn piston rings at this age I would expect. Still it's cheaper than an engine rebuild so worth a try.

I also cleaned the battery fan that was pretty clogged up with fluff so hopefully that will help with battery life.

I have some rear break discs and pads on order as my parking break is not great and the disks look scored so may as well change them when I have them off but it's looking like the project is nearly over (y)

So the cat was replaced with a new one, the old cat had bits falling out of it. It didn't look old but obviously something had happened to it.
Previous to that I had the orginal injectors refurbished by a local company, all coils replaced and new spark plugs. Fitted a used orginal maf and no more missfires.
I've driven another 200 miles and no engine management light on so far so hopefully this is it!
Thanks again to everyone for your help and guidance
