My dad is a colleague and friend of the seller. I've met him several times over the years. He's sent me photos and I've posted some of his accessories, but I've not purchased anything from him until recently. After seeing it on and trying it on his car, I got one of his shifters. Having done so, I would not ever go back to the original. This is the way Toyota should have designed it. Instead, they tried to fake it to make it look like an old mechanical shifter. The original shift knob is too large and it stuck out of the dash too much. The long shaft is not needed to the slight resistance that is needed to be overcome in making a shift.
Literally a five minute job, unscrew shift knob, snap off panel, unplug connectors, snap switches out of panel, snap switches into new panel, reconnect connectors, snap new panel in place, screw new shift knob on. The camera shows the black as darker than the large panel, but to the human eye they seem identical. .
The seller told me how he literally "stripped" and sanded the panel to the bare plastic and took three days to complete the panel with three primer coats and two final coats. He said for that reason, he won't be making an more. He wanted one for himself and experimented with the process to get it just right. He made several others in the process, since it was not much harder than making just one while he was at it.
Also bought a new model shift knob (from the same seller) that was modified to fit a V. Original one is so small, seems kind of weird. This one seems like what the car should have had from the factory. .
He emailed me and sent me photos of one that he made for the Gen 3 Prius. He said that the depth of the screw threads are different with each Prius model. The one for the v is different than the one for the full size Gen 3 Prius.
