Had my 2007 since it was new. Recently, at 144k the check engine was on for 2 weeks. On my way to get the codes read, a bunch of warning lights came on with a beep, including the red triangle. I continued for about a mile and all drive power quit. Coasted onto the shoulder, shut it down and waited several minutes then started it up. Still had all the warning lights but I was able to drive it another mile to my mechanic. Codes were P0137, P0138, P0353, P1121
They replaced an oxygen sensor and flow control valve. Ran fine with no warning lights.

2 weeks later, the same thing happened yesterday only no check engine light ahead of time. I was able to drive another mile to get home after restarting. I searched the codes from last time and found the P1121 service bulletin, which I will mention to my mechanic. I don’t feel comfortable driving it at this point. I will probably have it towed to my mechanic unless it needs to go to Toyota. I live in a rural area and the dealer is a long haul. Any advice? Thanks.

    Welcome to PriusChat(y).

Have you ever replaced your inverter water pump?

Can you see turbulence in the inverter coolant reservoir when the car is ready?

Good luck and keep us posted(y).

Did he at any point check the no 3 ignition coil circuit?

Dealer replaced the water pump per recall in 2011. I saw no turbulence when I ran it just now.
I don’t know if the no 3 injection coil was checked. I will discuss it with him tomorrow.
The hybrid battery status screen is only 2 bars and has the service it now! warning light. Now I’m wondering if the 12v is causing a problem. Replaced in 2014 so it could be time. Northern winters can be hard on batteries.
Thanks for your responses. I’ve been using Priuschat as a reference tool ever since I bought my Prius. This is the first time I’ve needed to post. Love this car.

If there is no turbulence, the pump is not working:cool:.

Id say it’s time for a new inverter water pump;).

    That should solve one problem(y).

Thanks. I should mention the O2 sensor had chew damage on the wires. Mice for sure. One winter I trapped 23 in the garage. Had a nest in cabin air filter once and nest and dead mouse in vents another winter. It was killed by the Prius.

Update on the repairs. Codes were for the ignition coil again. Had them replaced. I also had the inverter water replaced as a proactive measure. The check engine came on when I drove home. When I took it back, there were no codes and the light went out. It seems fine now. I may be hypersensitive now, watching the discharge on the hybrid battery. Thanks for your helpful advice.

Another update. Check engine light came on again while I was driving.

I’m keeping a close eye on the hybrid battery screen so I noticed the level was good but the ICE had stalled. I was able to drive home without draining the battery since it’s slightly downhill. I parked it overnight and it started normally the next day.

I noticed this morning it was running a little rough for about the first minute. That has happened before.

Unable to read any codes at the shop, so I’m headed to Toyota mechanic after Christmas.

The check engine light went out while I was driving. It seems like the ICE is running more than usual to charge up the hybrid battery. The battery wasn’t in the green zone constantly before. I will have a full diagnostic run on the hybrid battery. My mechanic suggested I add sea foam with the next few gas fills. I did one.
