Can someone advise on how to expose (take off plastic trim) from HU ? My unit needs, I suspect, a shot or two of De-Ox-it to keep it from not operating when the car is cold. Once warmed up everything works...so I'm hoping that some older grease or oil gets too thick when chilled. This approach has worked several times with a house CD player. Help coming?

I think the OP doesn't mean the heads-up display, but just the infotainment headunit.

Pop off the trim around the shifter first. That's the place you have to start without seeing where to start. Then the HVAC controls, the cupholder-and-trim-up-the-right-side-to-glovebox, and a bit on the other side around the power switch. Then the HU trim. In all steps after the first, you can pretty much see what comes next.

    Head unit.

Haven’t seen that term used for a while now that “infotainment” or “MFD” have taken over as preferred terms.

Oh Boy, did I mess up? HU for "Head Unit"? What I want to do is to take off the plastic surrounding the CD slot, the on/off knob. The idea is that I want access to what's behind the plastic so I can spritz it a bit with DeOxit it to degrease or de-whatever it to enhance cold weather operation. A bit clearer?
