OK We are compiling a mailing list.

this list will be used when we are making announcements that just involved the PriusChat members in the greater Wa St area.

    sooo. here is your choice.

    (1) i will probably use the PriusChat PM program for most of the messages so if you want to be on the list simply post your name to this forum. every member has a PM account and its private so you dont have to worry about personal info or anything like that. Aslo Danny mentioned a kind of mailing bulk mail thingy... have no details yet... but he said he had something set up so...

    (2) if you desire to be contacted another way like a different email account then PM me to give me the addy and ill put you on the list.

    NOTE
If you are one of the people that have already contacted me and you do not want to be on the list. please let me know. otherwise i will assume that you want to be on the list and i will automatically add you to it.

    ALSO
after i get a list compiled i will send the list to anyone who wants a copy. if you do not wish to be on the "public" list let me know when you sign up...

realize that after you are put on the list, you cannot take your self off!!!... ok ...maybe i was kidding on that last part... but you wouldnt want to leave such a fun and interesting group anyway right?? RIGHT!!

ok....cmon... also let others know because we havent had much traffic yet and i think its because many Washingtonians dont know about the new local chapter yet.

i posted a thread in the main forum so it would be seen by more people... so we might not want to do that again... but if you see anyone personally or have built a relationship with someone here, you might mention it to them in a PM... but only if you have PM'ed them before...iow... no spam...

and finally, signing up for the mailing list is not mandatory in any way... and you will not be thought of negatively in anyway... however, being on the list does qualify you for door prizes to our get togethers plus other perks like a free map to the next meet spot, ummm a free forum account and other things too numerous to mention!!

"I am dyslexic of Borg. Fusistence is retile. Your nice person will be laminated."

so if you werent dyslexic would that read...

"I am Byslexic of Dorg. Resistance is futile. Your Lass will be animated?"

LOL! That's hilarious. So many ways to screw that line up, so little space to put it before people start to roll their eyes at you!

Count me in. All this makes sense to me but then I was dyslexic before there was a word for it. I hold a record (unbroken at my middle school) for the worse spelling grade. zero for content and -10 for not folding my paper properly and putting my name period in the proper corner can't remember it was the liver side or heart side. The english teacher was really anal. Thank god for spell checkers. Just don't have the meet on the left or right side of the parking lot, I will never find you!

LOL, poor hdrygas. I too have been dyslexic from Day One. I hold a record worse than yours... take yours and add to it: straight F student! I've never been able to achieve a D- (which would have thrilled my parents to no end). Didn't learn to read til 2nd grade (but learned to memorize what the other kids read aloud, and then repeated it word for word, thus nobody knew I couldn't understand anything in the book's pages). Thank god for private tutors, or else I would still be struggling with reading today. I spent every day after school in detention til 6pm. I even hold the record for the longest time spent in detention: end of school at 2:30 all the way til 8pm. Being an untreated ADHD kid (and still untreated as an adult) I had little to no concentration, and then the dyslexia made my homework all the more difficult. Never once finished a single homework assignment, though I worked from the end of class til 1am every day, and all day til 1am on weekends too. I was doomed from the moment they handed me the homework assignment. Numbers are still my worst enemy even today, so if you guys tell me to meet you all in parking lot I-6, I might be waiting in I-9 or looking for G-1 (reversal of I-6)! Numbers suck.... lol. And yes, thank god for Spell Checkers, or else I wouldn't be typing readable stuff here... LOL.

Pop me on the list too Dave. I don't check PM's on here because I didn;t know we could get em on here. I may have 50 right now as I type this...

For everyone's referrence I just set up a new AOL screen name for after the move to WA.

    [email protected]
Although I'm sure you all already know, capitalization is not important. It's up and going now, although I may not use it much until once I move. (I have to get rid of all the SN's with CA and Cali in them.)

Once I have my new phone number up there AND everything closes so I'm SURE nothing can be messed up, I'll share the address and phone information with you all as well.

    ok brad we gotchya.

actually, as a part of being here, all public meetings will be posted on the calendar so anyone who isnt on the mailing list can still be aware of meetings.

has anyone ever looked at it yet?

as for PM's brad, you could go to your profile and select "email me a notice when i receive a PM"

that is what i do since i never remember to look either and its at the top of the home page. and i have to check my email every day anyway.

Sounds very familiar. The tutor who taught me to read was Dr. Gladys Risden of Vermilion Ohio. Retired and older that dirt, at least to my perspective, but she taught me to read my first book "The Box Car Children", count, add, subtract. I was able to mix a few D's in and if I was really interested in. I did improve in my last two years in high school and get in to College under probation. I was able to do better as I got older, but I get it. It is still hard now that I am becoming "older than dirt" As one of my professors said "There is no good alternative to getting old". Amen to that.

I don't remember my tutor's first name, but her last was Byrd, and yes she was pretty old (at least from my perspective back then, though she may have only been 50 for all I know). She lived in Kirkland at the time. Like yours, mine had to teach me to read, write, count, add, subtract, multiply, everything. I think the first book she taught me to read may also have been The Boxcar Children, though I don't remember for sure. I really could have used her help all throughout school, but we weren't able to afford to keep paying for a private tutor after about 4th grade; so I was on my own after that. As for college, nope I don't think so. Regular school was traumatic enough; you couldn't drag me into a college if my life depended upon it. I hate teachers with a passion (two exceptions: my tutor, and my 6th grade teacher who was the only one I ever had that gave a damn about trying to help me instead of punishing me and viewing me as another looser & drop-out canidate. I am extremely greatful to him to this day). I never dropped out or gave up in trying to do better, but the teachers never saw that in me. *shrug* Water under the bridge now.

I get it. I had motivation. My father figured out how to push my buttons by offering be a car if I could get in to College and Graduate School. It got easier for me as I got older (except for spelling and math). I could learn things if presented and spill it back on multiple choice. Got into graduate school. My dad kept his promise a new 124 Fiat Spyder. Dark blue with a tan interior. My dad (or Mom?) added a roll bar and four point seat belt. Way cool. I loved that car. Traded it in on a VW camper Van. Telling me I could not do something was (is) the was to get me to do something.

i know exactly what ya mean and lets face it, isnt that why you are buying a Prius. society has told us that an economical and practical and fun isnt possible. The Prius is an example of doing it just because someone else said it couldnt be done!!

Things got easier for me after I finished 12th grade. Spelling and math remain my nemisis, but oh well. My motivation not to quit school was my father (he dropped out). I didn't want to be like him. I don't like to fail, and since that's what I spent my all my school-years doing, it made me want all the more to succeed (but I failed anyway). College scares me to death because I know what I'd be in for all over again. I learn best when it's hands-on, and can pass tests that way as well (or orally), however no teacher was willing to do that. I don't think many teachers knew what to do with me, to be honest.

You know, I've been seeing a flood of Prii around Redmond, lately... I wonder how many of them will be with us at our first meet? I gave one of them the Prius Wave, but got a "Wth?" look instead. LOL, guess they missed that thread (if they even read PC). Or maybe it was because they saw the Plymouth Reliant I was in at the time...
