Just bought a 2008 Prius w/170,000 miles last week. I like it so far, but not the stereo. I don't want radio or a CD changer, which is what I have. I want a display that shows artist/album/track info and takes a USB drive with mp3s, which I don't have.

So, that means replacing the stock head unit with an aftermarket one. However, the front face of the stock unit has such a dramatic slant, I'm worried it'll look really weird when replaced with a conventional boxy unit.

Anyone have experience with this? Maybe some pictures of example results from previous installs?

Thanks for the example. I ended up ordering an Axxera AV6118Bi from Crutchfield. Result:

I'm slightly annoyed that the side frames make it difficult to access and operate the left-side controls and USB slot, but I'm mostly just thrilled to finally be able to play music off of a thumb drive or bluetooth.

Was looking to replace my factor unit (JBL w/NAV) in my 2004 Prius. How did you deal with buy passing the amp if you also have a JBL factory unit? Also, did you purchase additional adapters from Crutchfield to maintain steering wheel controls?

I paid someone else to do the install, so I don't fully understand what's going on - but he said that the stock amp is still being used, so I shouldn't remove it. And yes, I paid for the full set of Crutchfield adapters.
