Wow, that's a pretty nice setup. Can you post a picture of where it comes out from under the steering column and how you run the cable to the center console?

Also, what length USB cable did you need to do that?

From a picture, you won’t be able to see the cable because it is hiding inside the covers. If you stick your hand behind them, the cable can be tucked away just fine. No need to remove any of the panels. Follow the while line in the picture to give you an idea how it runs. The cable is 6 feet long.

After using my vent mount for the past 3 (summer) months I've decided that it isn't ideal as the phone blocks a good bit of air. With the car not having any rear vents that I'm aware of, I found that I kept my phone laying on the wireless charger most of the time and just using the built in navigation which is fine, but we all know the best navigation is from our phone. So I started looking into another way to mount without going to the windshield and came across this SCOSCHE magnetic dash mount. I placed it on the steering column cover making sure I had plenty of distance from the steering wheel and after some driving I really like it! Holds my iPhone 11 Pro Max in place very well. The phone is using the apple silicon cover and I have the thin included magnetic pad placed (not stuck with adhesive) between the case and the back of the phone.

Is this still working for you? I've looked at the reviews on Amazon and a number of people report that the adhesive fails, sometime quiet soon after installation. I'd certainly like to get a mount that doesn't attach to the vent, as we have one now that repeatedly falls off.

    Thanks for any feedback.

Here is what I've done as "first draft". Had sun-shield on other more conventional cars, as simple extension of dash cowl. Had to use a bit more origami for this. Will make next one out of black card-stock, with better light blocking. Phone is Note 3. Holder is from Note 3 armored case. On this Note 3 I ditched the phone case and went to super-sized batt, so holder is now oversized and allows easy placement without "clicking in". Thats fine for this app. Holder rests on double-sided foam tape. This position is good for watching movies when stuck in rush-hour traffic. I'll probably end up keeping my backup no-service Note 3 there, and get an Airframe Pro for my active Note 3 for google maps, phone calls, etc. 20191226_120333[1].jpg 20191226_120328[1].jpg

Will also maybe rig dash mounted Note 3 with my Seek Compact Thermal, with extension cord, for "go pro" traffic cam.

Sorry I missed this post, but yes as of today over 2 years later the SCOSCHE magnetic dash mount is still working for me. It did pop off once when it got hot (summer sun) after I bumped it too hard while putting my phone on it, but other than that it's good to go. No vents blocked, sits where I can see it well for navigation and being where it sits it keeps me from picking it up and texting and doing other things that could be distracting.

I use an iOttie One Touch mounted on the small window on front door.

    Easily accessible, one hand in/out.

    Works for me.

Sorry for poor photo quality! 20220116_150505.jpg

Just installed a very simple Magnetic car phone mount. It's made by Vicseed and I picked it up off Amazon. I mounted just above the Hazard button and find that even with the large Iphone 13 Pro Max that none of my upper screens are blocked nor the vent. Really like the magnetic mount as it allows for very easy phone rotation for either portrait or landscape mode.
