I'm worried about CatConverter theft for Prius Prime, any DIY anti-theft?

And notice that Toyota is supplying those security devices as a non-profit item -- although I don't doubt that the dealers are making money on the installation part of the deal.

Starting at the 16min30sec mark of this video, looks like the PP has two cats - one in the engine bay and the other downstream and quickly accessible. Is this second one the one being stolen? Seems the engine bay one is more difficult to quickly steal.

Somebody here can probably invent a way to short the catcon to the 200 volt battery when the car is off......(y)

Remember: while the bear goes for the slowest runner, the cougar goes for the fastest one. So sometimes it is better to stand firm and tall and make it appear that you are ready for a fight.
I lean towards measures that help the entire community by encouraging them to select different careers or otherwise cease that line of business.

Parking (pre Virus) in SF was so bad I wouldn't be surprised if gangs kept a space occupied until they spot the right Prius then quickly open it knowing he'd zip right in, right next to their equipment.

Actually, Gen 4 catalytic converters are much tougher to steel than those Gen 2 ones. They are pretty much "buried" under a lot of other parts. Since there is a preheat-er full of smelly, sticky and sometimes very hot, red coolant that will come down to spray all over the thief under the car. As long as there are still a lot of Gen 2 cats for the easy picking, only stupid thieves will even try to steal a gen 4 cat.
