Hello. I have 2 FOBs for my 2005 Prius, but only one works. I would like to activate both however because the original one is weathered and acts weird at times. Before performing the 'chicken dance' procedure as outlined on this site I wanted to know if this is even possible. Thanks

Both fobs should work. Are you sure both batteries are OK? On the other hand, my wife's '7 came with one that works the SKS and the other one doesn't work the SKS, but will start the car if I plug it into the slot in the dash for the non-SKS (or dead battery) fobs.

BTW, you may want to edit your vehicle model information. If it's a 2005, it's not a Plug-in unless it's been SERIOUSLY modified. ;)

The SKS version Gen 2 can have up to 5 FOBs active.

The non-SKS version can have up to 4.

And that only jumps out at me because I was reading through an owners manual over the holiday and thought it was a bit odd....

Ok thanks much for the replies. So I guess the 'chicken dance' procedure is how to do it? I did not want to deactivate the key that works in this process in the event I mess up the procedure.

I will change the battery on the other one today, but I thought it had to be programmed or whatever. It might just be a dead battery

The worn fob may have degraded rubber buttons that jam at least one button ON. Replacement cases are available for around $10 or so. Be sure to move the transponder chip as well as the circuit board to the new case. Original cases are glued together, so spread some needle nose pliers in the mechanical key slot to open the old one. New cases are just snap together.
