Yeah the battery exhaust connection to the car body vent is pretty crappy. Its just loose there with the one screw.

I have read through this entire post. The result of which is that it would appear that the only solution that has been found is to clean the battery terminal?

My 2008 Prius has been turning itself on for the past two days that I have noticed. I suspect it may have been longer since. On Monday I parked my car and went into work got out 8.5 hrs later and my car battery was dead. Called AAA got a jump start and found I was also out of gas. I am going to check all my terminals and connectors when I get home but for now I disconnected the white connector to the 12.5 volt battery so I am not stuck tonight. It’s insane

Why would you suddenly be out of gas?

Any loss of the 12v system results in the fuel gauge going to one flashing dot until it recalibrates itself. Unless you ran out of fuel just as you parked the car, you just need to give the level detector a few minutes to reset itself.

Bringing this back from the dead. My 2007 started doing this. One time the dash didnt work and the car wouldnt power off so I thought combo meter, but now the dash seems to work fine but I'll power it down and if I dont walk away and lock it the car will power back up. Seems to reset climate settngs and clock when I do it too.

Anyone ever get a resolution? i see a lot of posts about this and not many comments about fixes.

I believe this can happen when the 12v battery is disconnected or 12v pawer is lost while the car is on. When power is restored, the car tries to return to its previous condition. You may want to go through and verify all the 12v connections in the battery area. I know I've read about this in one of the manuals. I don't remember which ecu does this, maybe the power source ecu? I'll try to find it and post it later today.
