Questions on buying a 2020 Limited

I have a 2013 model 3 as my info says, I am looking at the 2020 models and it looks like the only one with Nav (which I want) is the limited. Am I missing the point that none of the other models come with NAV?
1- I looked around at Edmunds, and some other sites and they claim the 2020 Prius is "sluggish" on acceleration, has anyone found that to be true of the Gen 4??
2- I went to the Toyota build site and see that there was no classic silver metallic color offered which is what I like out here in the desert. Did they stop offering that on the Limited??
3- I also see that they now offer Apple Car Play which means nothing to me since I have an Android Galaxy S8. I would hope that they have pairing options for Android, do they??
I may have more questions but this is a good start in my quest. Thanks for any response's.

I normally advise people NOT to buy up-optioned cars because you're paying for yesterday's technology with tomorrow pricing - and the increase in up-front pricing will NOT be rewarded with increased value when you sell the old car.
    However (comma!!!!)
If you buy cars every 7 years (2013-2020) this is less true and options will play a more important part in how you enjoy your car over a longer period of time.

    @Nav.
    This is a "prime" case.
Toyota uses their infotainment system to require users to subscribe to over-priced nav info, and require you to buy an up-optioned car.

Other OEMS have embraced things like Apple's Car Play and Android Auto for a while now (2016) but Toyota is still dragging their feet.

Nav is available on the Prime Limited (11" screen) as is Apple....but Android is only available on "select models" from what I've read.

    Priuses are NOT "select."

Not if you've been driving a G3 for 7 years.
It offers about the "same-day" 0-60 times.
The G4 is a tick slower, but it would probably take a gear-head to notice.
    The ride quality is better.

    Not sure.
Use a service like cars.com or Edmunds and cast a wider net with dealer stock.
As a last resort you could actually visit an actual dealer.

    Leave the G3 at home!

    2 reasons:
    1. Unless you just don't care much about money, you'll want to sell it privately. This forum has a For-sale sub-forum for example.
    2. They can't sweet talk you into something you'll deeply regret regret in the morning.....after they're done....um....lying to you.

    Nope.
    Not in a Prius.
You're either going to have to give up your smart phone for an iPhone - or deal with Toyota's system.

    ...or?
    Get another car.
Double check with a dealer in case the Googles are wrong.
Same advice applies about leaving the G3 at home....for the same reasons.

    Your're welcome!!! :)

You can thank us (or, at least, me) by letting us know what you decide on.

How many miles on the 2013?

    I know, off-topic...

Thanks for your views on my questions.
As to the Android question it "looks" like the S8 can be paired with the limited through Entune (from a search I just did) Toyota Connect | Pair Your Device with Bluetooth and it has most of the same features that I have now through Entune.
Also, I'm not going to trade in the 2013 since my girlfriend will give me trade-in value for it, which is a bit lower than re-sale but it will make her happy (if I decide to get the new car). :)
My history with Prius is starting with a 2008 Touring which I kept and really liked, until late 2013 when I decided to get the G3 model 3 and ever since then I have regretted it because of the "Flying Bridge" center console which I just hate. I thought I could get used to it but never have.
When I did the build option on Toyota's site, it ask's for zip code first so maybe that is why I couldn't find silver but I haven't seen anything online about silver being a color option for the limited which is a bit discouraging.

A Prime might actually be a cheaper buy than a 'limited' - even if you never charge it - and it will be worth more on the back end.

    Hi Mendel,
I do not drive very much so the miles are really low, 18,700.

No, it's my understanding (although I may be wrong) that the Prime is electric which is a non-starter for me out here in the sticks.

    Negative!

It's basically a G4 Prius with a much larger battery and the ability to recharge.
    You live in the California.

It almost makes NO sense not to buy a Prime in your state since there are some generous tax kickbacks for this car, and since the car will have much higher resale value when you're done with it.

Talk with somebody in the Prime Forum or read up on some of the benefits.

Prius Primes are a little harder to get on the left coast because: California......however (comma!!!) as I said before it almost makes little sense in your situation NOT to get one.
With your driving patterns, even the miniscule EV range of the Prius Prime could drastically cut down on the amount of fuel that you have to buy, and let's fact it.............somebody that buys Priises and drives less than 3000 miles a year is obviously interested in driving green, right?

With the tax rebates in your state and the ability to drive gas free for the first 20 something miles and the increased resale value?
A prime, for you, might be both kinda greens!

    Really.
    Look into it.
You will not regret at least informing yourself about the otha Prius.

IIRC, all Prius Primes come with Nav......but again, check with somebody that knows more about what they are talking about.

Oh man. And probably no rust due to your environment (no salted roads)? I would stick with the 13 for a few more years.

The manufacturers would like to have you think they progress, but that's not always the case: you'll be trading away a low, low miles creampuff with the spare tire, your favourite colour, Homelink garage opener (probably?), and hello Darth Vader Dash...

Yup, no rust. A lot of dirt roads though hence my wanting silver for a color:) I keep it garaged when not driving so everything is excellent on it EXCEPT for that dang center console and small NAV screen:cry: (My eyes are getting a bit old for the small screen, LOL)
I will look at the Prime but even that article that you linked to doesn't give it a glowing review.

In 2010~2011, the nav screen was not universal. I kinda like the clean look of our 2010 Touring (CDN level), has no screen, like this:

    upload_2020-1-2_12-23-40.png

Yeah I would seriously hesitate, with those miles, garage stored and rust free.

The article I linked was from Car and Driver, and the review WAS glowing compared to the stuff that they used to write about Priuses.

C&D thinks than any car that takes longer than about 6 seconds to go from 0-60 is woefully under-powered.
I tend to agree, but if you're gonna roll an ecobox, you have to give stuff up.

    Acceleration is low hanging fruit.
....so is ride height and curb weight....;)

LOL, you guys are talking me right out of buying a new one
Maybe I should just continue on with my current Prius and fugetabout it for awhile until a new Gen comes out. With my driving habits this should be good for another 40 yrs. LOL.

Yeah waiting a tad longer we will (should) see lots of new tech for Toyota and all other manufacturers real soon

The fed rebate would be nice now, but should go a lil longer for Toyota in the meantime

Yeah the longer I wait the less interested I am. I don't like the gloss finish on the 4th gen interior, the ever increasing complexity, less buttons and more screen input.

The lack of spare alone is a deal breaker: the only level now with a spare is the base level, and it doesn't have 3-door touch to unlock, so there's really zero levels I could "tolerate", if I held my nose regarding the "new-and-improved" dash.

The garage door opener (HomeLInk) too is nixed, on pretty much all levels.

    I've no idea about Navigation.

But as for performance - the Gen 4 seems slightly quicker off the line, and similar in other acceleration situations.

BUT - it is much faster around corners, it's very agile compared with a Gen 3.

everyone who says wait or buy a less expensive version is probably right, but then again, what's right for you shouldn't be a committee decision.

I just retired, bought a limited, and even had to get one from the mainland for a color and style I wanted (live in Hawaii) rather than wait 6 months. I love it. It's fast, responsive, the larger screen works for my aging eyes, I love the HUD, the added technology I get with the Limited, and well, it fits me.

Good to ask for other opinions, but in the end, it's for YOU.
