On the steering wheel and doors here are lights that light up the power window controls and controls for ac and radio. At night I cant see these well. Is there a way to make them brighter

    no.

    short and simple answer.
    I've asked, I've tried, I've been frustrated.

<_< SUGGESTION: Do a SEARCH before posting a "NEW" thread. There is a long thread on this subject.

The only way to make them brighter is to make the inside of the car darker, as by adding tinted glass or driving through dark alleys. B)

Sorry Charles... Us newbies can be expected to make some silly mistakes. Thanks for the tip.

Don't pay attention to our resident grouch, as many of us already do. Besides, the Search function on PriusChat is woefully inadequate.

And I heard that his fur gets stuck in his keyboard which REALLY makes him grouchy.

It would be nice if it was tied to the dimmer or maybe even have a different dimmer switch for them.

I find that they are perfect when on lonely dark roads out in the middle of no-where.. but not quite bright enough when in the city with lots of outside lights to kill your eyes nightvision.

what, i thought many people have done this with a scantool or something? I remember people saying they asked the dealer to brighten up the steering wheel lights with some kind of tool.

Have I lost my mind, or does anyone else remember a thread like that?

A boost converter that could feed the ILL+ lead into the steering
spiral-cable with about 28 volts would in fact do the trick quite
nicely. I prototyped it at one point but never sat down to build
a permanent unit yet. Oh, and it's trivial to make it dimmable
along with everything else on the rheostat, too.
    .
Not a scantool issue, just too much resistance in series with all
the little LEDs on the steering-pad boards.

Well I just took my 2 week old 2006 out tonight to see how the ceramic tint was at night. I finally gave up a while back and went to reading glasses so the eyes are getting older. I will say that if those buttons on the steering wheel were lit than they need more light The only way I could do anything was by feel.
