Toyota announces new compact SUV for its European line-up

Toyota will announce a new small SUV to be built alongside the Yaris line in France. It will be built on the GA-B platform so it will be small. You can only see an outline but it appears to be similar to the UX. Probably a hybrid version will be included although the article has no details.

Slight update on the new B-SUV:

Toyota at the 2020 Geneva International Motor Show

At least Toyota revealed it to have AWD as well as their latest Hybrid system. Even shows a darkened tail shot from above. Not a plug-in. Look for the reveal on March 3rd.

Tail lights and bumper are all wrong so I’m guessing no. The Raize is not a hybrid model but a Daihatsu designed 2WD small SUV with a 1.0 L tied to a D-CVT. For the B-SUV, I’m thinking they took the Yaris and just pushed it up a notch in height and length to add the second motor and inverter and a more down sloping tailgate.

They went to a lot of trouble to make the final facelift Prius c look like an SUV. Lots of plastic trim on the wheelwells and rockers, style and color palette mostly borrowed from the Subaru Crosstrek.

You can see where they were testing the waters for something like this.

Now they can push harder and do one with its own shape on the new system. I wish them luck; could be a great small car!

Presumably smaller than a Prius but could give a hint about the look of the next gen Prius which could debut at an auto show about a year from now as a 2022 model.

auto magazines are saying that this SUV would be light off road ready, the teaser kind of looks like a mini lexus UX from behind, it also appears like the prius V spy shots that appeared in news two years ago.

How much smaller than the C-HR can it be?

Look at Kona vs. Venue. Apparently there’s a market if Hyundai and Kia are producing two similar vehicles in that class. Although the Kona is smaller than the CH-R.

The European Yaris is 3940mm (155.1 in) long while the C-HR is 4360mm (171.7 in). They have some wiggle room since the Yaris GR is another 55mm in length, so I’ll guess their new B-SUV might be about 4070mm (~160 in).

The C-HR wheelbase is 3.1 inches longer than the European Yaris's 100.8. The Trax's is 100.6, and Ecosport 99.2. The other cute-utes I could recall started at 102 inches.

Those numbers are close to the original 1995 RAV4.

The Mazda Yaris wheelbase is 101.2 inches. The sedan is 171.2in long, and the hatch 161.6.
