Gen 1 Prius Headlight bulb upgrade LED conversion kit

I’m done driving to the light of 2 candle!

Hi everyone, can you please share any suggestions for the best LED conversion kits for headlights on a Gen 1 Prius. I have a 2002 and I’m restoring the headlight lenses today so that should help. My headlights were providing about as much light as a candle. I’m in Michigan with lots of ruff weather, and drivers lol, so that’s not acceptable.

For now id like to replace the oem halogens with LED Kit for twice the lighting brightness but not so much to blind other drivers.

Basically I need lighting equivalent to a 2020 vehicle.

I see threads on Gen 2,3,4 etc but no up to date threads on Gen 1 I need links to the kits your suggesting so I can compare & buy! Here's the only clear resource I can locate from 2019 but I'm not sure these options are compatible with my Gen 1 Toyota Prius. The 4 Brightest H4 Bulbs – Best 9003, HB2 Headlight Reviews 2019

Thank you in advance for your input, links & experience!

Ps oh I restored headlight lenses today using the typical repeated sanding coating polishing method but probably won’t last 6 mon so may try and replace lenses “eventually” if I find cheap) In the meantime the restored lenses help contribute to my quest for twice light.

One more thing I heard there’s a clear film protector recently available you can use to cover the lenses and prolong the clean CLEAR polished look of the lens.. anyone familiar or tried it?

I've used the clear film protector cut to size on a different car and lens stayed crystal clear, recommended with 3M adhesive

Hey there! Cool! Can you please share the link so I can get the same one? do I buy the 3M adhesive separately? which one did you get exactly? did you have to cut it to the shape you needed? Thanks so much!!!

Here's a link with some specs and a link to a spot to buy but not sure how up to date or accurate it is. I was thinking of buying mine on amazon. Also I need lights that cut though darkness, snow, rain, haze etc lol I live in Michigan so we get plenty of challenging weather all year long.

Hello there I'm sorry for my late intrusion I think when you said clean the lenses you meant the external glass of the headlight which is quite different than the concept of a lens because I believe the lack of lenses in our first generation Prius is one of the main causes for the bad lighting I am suffering from the bad lighting as well and I did upgrade into led headlights H4 and it did not make much difference
So recently I decided to upgrade from the normal H4 lead from a brand called g5 into something called mini lens LED ... Which is a totally different concept...
It's a typical lead but it comes with a mini convexed lens attached to it and a metal part to converge the light into that lens so that it can focus the light up front ...
Yesterday a friend asked me to buy him this mini headlights and he took it and installed it into his truck and he noticed that the lights became very much brighter
So I am convinced that this can solve my lighting problem and I intend to install it from my old car

I actually intended to try them on my car before giving them to him and he gave me permission to do that but there's a catch
This mini lens led is quiet longer than the usual lid because of the metal part that converges light into the lens and the lens itself so in order for it to fit inside my gen 1 I am going to need to remove the middle part that acts like a tiny little mirror that reflects the direct light and heat from the halogen bulbs to protect the outer glass...
Otherwise it's not going to fit inside our gen 1 and if it did there is going to be an obstruction in front of the light and that is what stopped me from trying them on my car when they were in my position

First images for the normal lead that I have already installed on my car

Second and third one or for the mini lens LED lights that I recommend
