2016 Prius 4 rear quarter panel and bumper damage

Why don’t you ask a body shop or two how they’d do the repair, and how much filler they’d expect to use? It wouldn’t surprise me if a skilled craftsperson could restore the panel to its original shape—maybe even using paintless dent repair techniques—but it’s difficult to write a collision repair estimate just from a photo.

Replacing the entire quarter panel would be a much more invasive procedure; regardless of cost, I wouldn’t want it done unless necessary. As shown in catalog Figure 61-01, Side Member, image 615441A, the outer side panels are made in one piece at the factory, but they are sold as service parts and replaced in cut sections. Also, note that the blind spot monitor sensor is behind the bumper cover. After the sheet metal repairs are finished, make sure someone does the inspection described in the Repair Manual under Audio/Visual/Telematics: Park Assist/Monitoring: Blind Spot Monitor System: Operation Check.

 

A good body shop will make all the difference. One that doesn't cut corners, does seamless body restoration (some filler is likely necessary, I wouldn't stress over it), replaces any lost fasteners/brackets with stock parts, and last but not least: uses good paint blending technique, where they thin out the paint, till they're shooting just clear on the last and most extensive coat.

For the pushed-in quarter panel, I would guess they'll tack weld a series of weld nails on, use them to pull it out, snap them off and grind/fill/sand.

Judging from the pic the rear bumper won't need replacement.

Funny, as I was first watching this, I gradually started noticing it's in the Vancouver, BC area, local to me.

 

Yup......around this area, the paint-less dent removal guys preform magic.......might be worth asking......
