I want to get set up for checking and balancing the cells in my Prius batteries.

I am a long time electronic tech, and have dozens of meters and electronic stuff. Yes, I can rig up a load, and manually load each cell, and record discharge time to a certain voltage, etc. But I see a lot of smart chargers that do this automatically and don't cost much. The question is, which one to get? I prefer to avoid the inaccuracies of doing it al manually, when I can buy a decent unit for $30-$60.

I don't plan to get into the business of being a hybrid battery tech, but I do own 3 Priuses and I want to be able to check and recondition my batteries when the situation arises. And I do have an immediate need to isolate and replace a bad module.

I see a lot of people seem to use the Hobbyking quattro, but I think I'd do fine with a single charger unit. There are many options. I see Tenergy, Eyesky, Venom, etc.

Would you want to do the whole pack at once, and since you have 3 Prii, have you thought about the Prolong equipment sold by Hybrid Automotive:whistle:?

I've used that and it makes life easy;).

And spread the cost across 3 Prii and the economics are favorable:).

    Something to consider(y).
