Friday I backed out of a driveway and shortly after driving away the triangle of death, the engine light, the exclamation mark and the VSC light. The battery cooling fan was blowing at max speed it seemed. It was late and I decided to continue my drive home (10 minutes).

When arriving home I used an OBD2 reader to see a P0A9C fault code. I decided to reset the code and went to bed convinced that my battery had died. Next day I read online that this fault code can have multiple causes and I did not experience any issues when starting the car.

I have driven 50 miles since and the fault code did not return yet. Are there any issues known were the fault shows up only sometimes?

My gen2 has 299.999 KM on it and I was planning to drive it until it won't anymore. However they are so popular that it even now still has value. Should I consider trading it in asap before it stops working altogether?

P0A9C points to the Hybrid Battery Temperature Sensor "A"

    Areas to check are:
    • HV battery assembly (battery temperature sensor)
    • Battery ECU
Attached is the inspection procedure for this code.

I hope that helps a little bit.

So where do you suppose the hybrid battery temperature sensor "A" is?

No it did not come back however I got a P0A80 code instead so my battery indeed seems done... This time a reset only works for a short period and the code returns during the drive. Also less power and a fan that is on non-stop so I know where I'm at... I created a new thread to ask for some advice concerning replacement.

@dolj thank you for the info, I looked into it when you replied but it is a bit too technical for me. I understand what it says but will not be troubleshooting it myself. (and no longer need to now that I have the P0A80).
